Shaking Misconceptions of Parkinson’s

Diagnosed with PD at 36, Dr. Andrew Dean is trying to shake off misconceptions of the disease. “Parkinson’s disease is not just for older people, it affects people in their twenties and thirties. But if people are diagnosed when they are young, it’s not life destroying, it’s life-changing. If they have a positive attitude, embrace exercise and medications, they can have a full and good life.”

Amazingly, Dr. Dean says he can run better than he can walk. “When I walk, I’m reminded of my Parkinson’s. When I run, I feel free.”
