Parkinson’s Won’t Stop Her

At 70 years old, Maura Ward has traveled to more than 60 countries. A self-proclaimed ‘geriatric traveler,’ Ward says she loves adventures where she can meet new people and experience different cultures. And when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, that desire didn’t stop.

Parkinson’s affects people in different ways, and as Ward says, “If you don’t fight it, you can lie down under it.” Instead of letting her diagnosis beat her, Ward says Parkinson’s has been the catalyst for her traveling a lot more.

“We are not invalids,” Ward says. If you’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, you can help challenge the stereotypes of the disease and show what people CAN do with this disease.

For all of us, with or without Parkinson’s, DON’T WAIT. Do the things you can while you can.

Live your life to the fullest it can be, and don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of that.
