Hi everyone, I'm a junior member, so don't even know if I'm doing this "right". I appreciated the thread about the photo bucket, and if I can learn to use it correctly, will put a photo on of my recent whitewater rafting trip. I just got back last night. My group and/or family usually whitewater rafts for about a week or two each year. We don't camp along the trip, but do camp in a campground and raft the same stretch of the Snake River twice a day.
I went this year, but only felt up to once a day, both because of my recent shoulder surgery (about 2 months ago) and because I get fatigued with my PD. Some days are worse than others (anyone else experience fatigue?), but I've found that working out six days a week, eating a good diet, taking my meds ON TIME (hard for me to do), and doing all the same activities as much as possible really help me stay in as good of shape as possible. We got a new Maltese puppy (already have a three year old) from a lady in a town near where we raft. She's only 7 weeks old and 1.8 pounds. The only problem I had was that this morning she jumped out of my arms, or I dropped her (or a combination of the two) and she fell onto her side. I felt so bad. I thought, "Maybe I shouldn't even carry a puppy since I have PD." Yet, you know those wiggly things. I'm going to be more careful, though. I have dropped light items a couple of times. Anyone do that either? Anyway, I had a great time rafting, but am glad to be home! Sheryl |

Hi Sheryl,
Your rafting trip sounds like fun. I agree, a good diet and exercise go along way towards keeping us going. I go to the gym 5 days a week before I go to work and I go hiking 2 to 3 times a month. I move much more slowly the days I don't work out. I do experience fatigue, but have learned the benefit of power naps. Gail |
