My wife suffers from Both PD and RLS and we were told by the Parkinsons Specialist that this not an uncommon occurence. She is now taking Madopar for the PD and Requip for the RLS (which is now the recognised drug in the UK for the treatment of RLS) Has anyone else any experience of this combination of problems? I am happy to say that her RLS problems have reduced considerably and the combination of drugs so far is not affecting her PD control. She has 1 remaining problem involving BURNING LEGS and this painful condition has seemed to baffle the local medical profession-has any body else had problems with this? Any suggestions?

Hello Gary. I also suffer from RLS (infact many years before my PD Diagnosis) My G.P. started me on Ropinolol ?? and it has made a huge difference. I have also suffered with what I called 'Hot Legs' but this has dissapeared since taking RLS medication.

My husband has PD and does suffer with RLS. Just last night he had a bad episode. He had been doing pretty good with it intil his dr just added another med Sinement so I don't know if that has triggered the RLS again or what. He is on Requip, Azlect and Sinement. Dr took him off the Neupro patches so he is taking more requip in place of that minus the patch. So I don't know if meds have made his worse or it just happens periodically. I do know he didn't have RLS until he went on meds for PD.

I also suffer with RLS as well as PD. I take Requip for both as well as other drugs. I also have the painful burning that you are describing along with creepy-crawley feelings also. The doctor prescribed CYMBALTA which is normally prescribed for depression, but which has been shown by a trial that it will work to help alleviate the symptons you are describing. I had some relief immediately with the starter dose and as the dose increased to 60 mg, I had almost total relief from the symptons. The mechanism of action is unknown, all the doctors know is that it works.

Hi Gary,
I suffer with PD but also have a terrible burning sensation in my legs. I have found that I get a limited amount of relief folling my weekly massage also after doing weight and resistence exercises but the burning sensation doesn't go away completely. I am not on any medication for my burning legs. do you find the medication helps?
cheers,
Peter.
