Reaction : I understand now why my pwd is shabby and does not care about his appearance most of the time. Thank you.

Question: Why is my pwd always afraid, scared and pessimistic ?
At daytime, he likes to have dark environment and at nigh time he turns a lot of lights on ? Please help me. What should I do ?

Hi
is it your husband who has PD

Because i don't no your back ground, how long he has had it, or if on any medication which can be the cause, it's difficult to comment
please can you enlighten us some,

because my husband Jim illness only mimics PD, and not on PD medication I don't comment on medication, but there is a lot of friends on hear with PD and more experienced that some/most doctors to comment

The thing that does come to mind as Jim went through a phrase of losing his day and night's, as he spent just about all his day sleeping, also had a lot of panic attacks, and Drew a member on hear suggested we try Diazepam , he gets 2mgm at night, which helps him relax to sleep, and also when he gets panic attacks,[afraid] I give him 2 mgm, which relaxes him
this is just a though, as i said it could be his medication that needs adjusting

Hi Heather,
My son has PD for seven years already. He is only 43. He worked as a Registered Nurse in a Trauma Hospital. He had experienced being held-up by a robber and a gun was pointed to his head while down the ground. It was my grandson who cried that stopped the robber and fled after taking his purse, ID, credit cards and all. Until now, my son seems to be remembering that incident all the time and kept on locking doors, trying to overly protective of himself and always scared.
He takes requip 3-3-2 tablets a day. His former medicines make him drowsy all yhe time.
He wears a helmet, knee and elbow caps to avoid being hurt when he falls. Do you know of a PD specialist in nearby Houston, Texas ? Please let me know. Thank you for answering my question at once.

Dear mahalkita
Thank you for sharing the above with us
I think with your son being a registered nurse, he will no he need a lot of psychological support, and counseling, and he may just need to be pushed gently to get some help.

Thought i did a counseling course for my diploma I don't think i am be any means in the position to be giving any advice, but please try and get him to see someone. In the UK there are counseling just for nurse

does he wear these "He wears a helmet, knee and elbow caps to avoid being hurt when he falls". due to his PD

I'm sorry but i don't no a good doctor, but i no of a link on hear done by Ltd -edition, i will look for it and post it A.S.A.P

Welcome, Mahalkita. I live in the Dallas area, so I don't know Houston doctors. But there is a Houston Area Parkinsons Society. Their website is

hapsonline.org

I am sure they will be a great source of information and help.

Good luck. Let us know how you and your son are doing. I am caregiver for my husband who was diagnosed 10 years ago.

Hi Hope
hope all is good in your house

What I posted was a copy that Ltd-Addition posted
"Im a young onset parkers groupie " is how she describes her self, and others :D:D:D:D

She was very young when diagnosed, and a haa haa a minute
but having a rough time in work at the moment, so doesn't get on as much

Thanks, Heather,
I still don't think I understand - but that's ok. I'll keep trying to learn the "lingo".
A question about this site: How does one know when someone has written? On another site, I get an email - so it's easy. On this one, if I read a thread - how do I know when people continue writing? Do I have to keep track of the threads on which I write? Or does the computer do it for me??? I'm afraid I'll read something, respond, want to hear from the person - but will forget which thread I read it on. Maybe the trick is to only use a couple? But that defeats the purpose of wanting to touch base with others.
Am I supposed to press something to get an email when someone writes? HELP! Hope your day is going well. Everyone else's, too!!! Hope

Malhakita,
I haven't heard from you for a while. Just wanted to know if you are ok or not. Maybe you are writing on other threads (is that what these are called?). Just checking. Please let us know what's happening in your world!
Hi, Heather. This week-end we're having Memorial Day so I get a day off from school tomorrow. I've been washing windows and now must stop to get my husband moving for a bit!
Just wanted to say hi. Hope
