hi
my father has had strokes which affect his left side, he now has trouble using left arm to hold on to things, because of the tremor,he only tremors when trying to use it.
we found out about his condition in august 2007 first the neuro said parkinsons, then when the scans came back in december thet showed the strokes.
so far meds have made improvement, in fact he as become considerably worse, needing help with dressing cutting his food up,walking with him from a to b.
the neuro said meds may nether help because of the strokes,is anyone having these same problems,or is there anybody who is like this and found anything helpful.
would be greatful for any tips.

Hi Lynn
hope you are well
I have tried looking through the forum, and haven't come across anyone with this
I can only speak as a carer, i have looked after Jim my hubby for 12 years, his illness mimics PD, and people often think he has had a stroke
He is in stage5, and has been for about 5 years, so if there is anything i can do to help, you with his care, then please ask,
Take care

Thanks Heather
Has dad isn't responding to pd meds they are going to introduce apomorphine,iv'e just checked up on this and found out it is injections, which worries me because i know mum will be unwilling to give this to dad, which that means me. but also i think once dad knows this med is through injection he will proberly refuse it.
Has he was only diagnosed in august, the neuro can't believe he has deteriorated so quickly,he suspects it could be pd plus
but i would'nt know what stage he is at.

hi Lynn
It may be a drug he only has to have every so often
and may be a nurse can come and give it
I'm a community nurse, and we go out daily to give diabetics a daily injection, and anti clot injection's.once a week for renal patient's on weekly injections, just keep in mind, to ask if any other way
the PD nurse should be able to advise you on this, don't let anyone make you say yes, ask do they do it in any other way
a Patch is often used, for some medication, don't be to egar [spelling] to say yes ,they may not offer any other way if you say yes so ask. they[pD] may have a nurse that goes out
hope this makes sense

Lynn this is 2 links i have found
www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/apokyn_wcp.htm
www.drugs.com/pro/apokyn.html?printable=1
i don'tno if they are the one's you have found
In the first i quickly read it can be given with a pen
if so it's very easy, and wont hurt
I did a post in the Parkinson's section if you want to no the stages, not everyone wants to no , but it's there if you want to no
