If you are having problems with your medication you need to tell your doctor about it .Yes some parkinson's medications do cause compulsive behavior and if this happens your meds need to be changed.once again talk to your doctor.

That's easy to say, In a million years I would not have put
these two together. My counselor brought the possibility to my attention recently after she talked to another neurologist.
None of my side affects list from the pharmacy included sex addiction. I have since stopped taking Requip, but the damage it has done to my family is devestating. Yes, I have since talked to my doctor, but why didn't he talk to me first?

Tom, I am so sorry you did not get better advice from your neurologist. When my husband started having psychological problems which caused him to alienate family members, the neurologist said, "It might be the meds; but you are doing so well physically that I would rather not change the meds." I have wondered so many times whether a different neurologist would have considered the "quality of life issues" more important and tried something different! I am happy for you that your doctor has taken you off those meds. Maybe you can win back your family's trust; I hope they can understand that it was the disease and meds at work and not the real you. It has taken me a long time to get over the things my husband said and did in that black period, but things are better now. I wish you and your family the best!

Hi Tom
It is not fair that these things are not explained to us when we are given these medications .I was the same as you i had a gambling problem that was way out of control.i have since gone off the medication and i am fine now .i know how you feel.i was lucky my family understod that this was not my normal behaviour .i hope that you can repair the damage with your family we have enough to cope with and don't need extra pressure like that .Hope to talk again soon

I started Stalevo the day before Thanksgiving and had to stop it on the following Saturday, I could not tolerate the med. I did not want to stop taking the Stalevo I was having such good results with it.

I started Requip today. I have read the postings on here about Requip and they sound not so good.

Has anyone had good resulis with Requip???

Thanks!!!

Hi John,

When I was diagnosed I began taking requip and it seemed to do the job for a couple of years. Now I take requip with the stalevo.

Hi
When I started taking Requip it totally disagreed with me and when I described symptoms to my Specialist he laughed and said "other people describe the same things with the one I am going to give you but let's try it" and for me the new one worked. No one medication suits everyone with PD.Best of luck and hope Requip works for you without problems

Hi
Beryl has been on Requip for over 2yrs and has had no problems. She currently takes 3x1mg spread over the day and 1x2mg at night. The specialist has just proposed that we change to 1x4mg Control Release Requip (new product) .
as he feels this is more effective as it maintains a steady release level for a 24 hr period .
He feels that this will work better during the night and hopefully improve her sleeping pattern.
Will let you know the results later.
Love Gary
