How do you keep from getting your back hunched? I am constantly trying to stand up straight. How do you do it?
I have asked my husband to alert me when I am bent over but it seems difficult to keep straight. Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

That is such a good question. It makes me feel old that I walk hunched but can't seem to stop it from happening.

Hi Juanita, Gail and Sue,

One of my husband's doctors recommended that he try a soft neck brace with a velcro closing. The doctor told us that in many cases of PD patients this might help strengthen the neck/throat muscles to discourage the head from slouching too much. He advised that it be done three times a day for one hour each time if this is tolerable.

We got Tony the neck brace. He wore it three times and said "I don't like it, so I'm not wearing it". But maybe you and other people on the Forum would benefit from wearing one.

If you try it, I hope that it really helps a lot.

Margie :)

Thanks, Margie, I had never heard of that suggestion before. I used to have one after a whiplash.

if you are capable of light exercise I would try pilates I do it every day it stengthens core muscles which help support your back. Make sure you have a good qualified instructor:)

My husband's neurologist suggested that he should lie on the bed, flat of his back without a pillow, at least 10-15 minutes per day and it would help with the posture. He tried it just once, but he was too uncomfortable. I hope it might help someone else!

Hi SuziQ and Diane,

I have a Wii Fit also. I too love the bowling best of all. Haven't used it for a time but after reading your quote and Sue's I'm anxious to get started again.

Let's go girls!

I'm so happy to be back on the Forum after having difficulty getting on.

Please note that I no longer will be logging in as Margie as I have in the past, I will be logging in as Margie2 but am the same person.

Have a good day/evening/night.

Margie now Margie2:)
