Fava beans, anyone else trying them?

As the thread title says, anyone have any results with fava beans, particularly the fresh sprouts? I've been experimenting over the last month and will share how I make out in future posts.

Hi Ettie,

Young fava beans (sometimes called green broad beans) are naturally high in dopamine as are the sprouts. The mature beans (like the Progresso canned ones) as well as dried favas have almost no dopamine so young immature beans are preferred.

Doctors advise patients to avoid fava beans while on PD meds since they can mess up the dosages of the meds. Since I don't use any meds, I am trying them out as an organic substitute since the side effects of the synthetics I can not handle (I still can't understand why a drug company with any conscience charges what they charge for PD meds with the kind of side effects these drugs induce in the majority of cases.)

The problem with favas (besides the dangerous allergic reaction called favaism a few people experience) is getting a consistent dosage. Every bean is different based on its growing conditions so where one batch will give some very temporary relief for my hand stiffness, another batch will do nothing except result in beans' most famous side effect. I'll keep everyone posted.

I have not tried fava beans but am having great sucess with mucuna pruriens .I have been taking this for 6 weeks now have gone offf all my parkinson medication and am doing fine i.I am the best i have been for 5 years.I dont suppose that it will work forever but I look at it this way i am havinga drug free holiday.When the mucuna does not work any more I will go back on my regular medication .
