Hi everyone, I was just diagnosed in September 2007 with pd. I am 47 so it was quite a shock at first. I have shown signs for several years. Doctors kept telling me it was just nerves not to worry. I had to ask my nuerologist if I had parkinsons. He than started observing me. I also got a second opinion.

My spouse was 38 when he was diagnosed -- and that was after 3 years of subtle symptoms. What we discovered, after visiting 4 neurologists, was that a movement specialist who is also a neurologist can make that diagnosis quickly. When we finally got to that point the movement specialist walked into the room and without even examing my spouse said, "You have Parkinson's" -- and the ride began!!! Hang in there. The medications have improved, there are lots of people working on a cure, and you will have lots of support through this site. If you are local to Washington State there is an incredible center in Kirkland, WA. It is the Booth Gardner Parkinson's Center and it is associated with Evergreen Hospital. They are located in the Totem Lake area and they have a wealth of knowledge, experience and resources.
