Hi. I'm Leggs. Dh calls me that. I am new to this whole PD world and we are still in denial. He is the one with shakey arm. Has anyone here tried homeopathic? Has anyone used Frankincense? When is early PD no longer early?

Hi Leggs
Welcome to the forum. In answer to your first 2 questions I have not tried either. I was diagnosed 8ish years ago. Early PD? Well there is one person who was diagnosed at 5 years old if that is what you mean. If you mean what syptoms do you see first and then what later - there is no answer I'm afraid because PD affects everyone differently and that is why it is sometimes difficult to treat immediately. Basically there are no rules. I suffer from tremor down my right hand side - arm, hand, leg and foot for the most part but if I get anxious the tremor increases and I feel it throughout my body. I get anxiety/panic attacks. BUT that is me. You say your husband is in denial. If he feels comfortable with that then OK but if his symptoms are interfering with his lifestyle (and yours) then a trial and error on most common meds really should be attempted. My best advice?
1. Don't worry about the future - it will come along in due time. Live for today and TRY and enjoy it.
2. Got a good sense of humour? Retain it best you can.
I guess that will do for now but it is not all doom and gloom as you will see what wacky people we are and what we have written. This forum is the best for PD patients and carers. Enjoy.

Hi Leggs

I'm a carer for Jim my husband, who has a illness that mimics PD

I think just about everyone is in denial when first diagnosed, After all we are all human and always believe, these things only happen to others, never us

You will find as you find your way around the forum[shout if you need help] that we are a happy big family, and we are all hear to help each other, come to terms, with the changes in our lives, so please feel free to ask anything, and i mean anything, and someone will help
enjoy your stay with use

Hi Leggs
I think, i could be wrong, I think the saying " early PD" is the age you get PD, as most people seem to get it later in life, but others early, there are a few on hear who have got it and diagnosed quiet young, Ltd-addition is one.
I no she doesn't mind people e-mailing her if you want to contact her, you will find her address in her profile,in the members section, topof the page

On a serious note:
Hi Leggs, early onset Pd is when your diagnosed before the age of 40 yrs old." Young onset Parker's"
Try to look in archive's for homeopathic

On a light hearted note
Just a few bit's of advice, If you want a full cup of tea, don't ask me ! Never dance in high heel shoes whilst wearing a tutu, especially when under the influence of drink.
Have a good belly laugh each day.
On a serious note;
I'm delighted you found the forum for your sanity sake,
On a lighter note:
However I'm registered "Totally sane, occasionally" and I am now wearing my best tutu and singing whilst I dance "its not unusual to be loved by every one" sang originally by Tom Jones.
Welcome, I hope you are relieved of some emotional stress even if it's for a second , by reading messages on the forum (Although on reading my messages, they may confuse you, but at least you can have a laugh. !! Excuse my sense of humour it does get worse )

Heather(Prill) here, hi Heather yet again. Just logged on and saw this thread.
You are lucky Legges finding the Forum if you have just been diagnosed, I feel I wandered around in a fog for a long time.
Heather if you are mad there is nothing left to call me. I have a very weird sense of humour, see something funny in almost anything which can get me in trouble, also I have a song or every situation. My 6 yo. grandson said to my husband, Mike. "Gramps why does Nan sing so often, she has a song for everything", which on reflection is true.
Nearly got wiped out by a car shooting traffic lights the other day, my friend said 'oh well at least we could have gone to meet St Peter together' my reply was to sing "We are building a stairway to Paradise", which I thought apt. I also whistle, I am told tunelessly if I am angry about something!
Don't know why I should have come out with all that! still as they say 'better out than in'. I don't know what to say to others who have just been told Mr Parky has moved in. It really does affect people in different ways. We have to find our own way to deal with it I guess, I find it very difficult to come to terms with the fact that it is not like a cold, it is not going to get better in a few days.....
Never mind, as my friend would say 'enough already'. Be back
later, hope you are able to cope Legge.

Hi Leggs. Sorry to hear about your husband. Also sorry you are being affected by PD also. I think we are all in denial when first diagnosed, in fact even after 6 years I still say, "I do not have parkies, it is cramp, etc.' trying to ignore shakey left arm, which gets worse when agitated or stressed, very violently shaking left foot, joined by right one more often than not, when I sit down with my feet up to relax in the evening. Especially my mobility problems, the top half of my body moves but unfortunately my feet stay in the same place, makes for a few falls if I am not thinking about what I am doing.
I am sure you will find the forum helpful, I enjoy skipping from subject to subject,, and getting a mixture of sad and amusing threads, the humour one and the latest chocolate trail have been particularly addictive.
I am called Heather (Prill - P for short) as Heather Senior was aleady here. We have discovered I go near her home when I drive from my home in Powys to Chester, for grandparent duties. I shout hello but am not too sure as to whether or not she hears me!!!
Good Luck - will speak again. Heather(P)

Hi. Heather(P) here again, had a real off day to-day so came on line to be cheered up.
Came back from Chester yesterday, 4 pm ish, I was driving and was attracted by some very very bright lights in the distant hills around Wrexham area. when I pointed them out to my husband he told me it was " the sun reflecting on some large sheets of glass etc." I told him he had no imaginaton it was a UFO or better still 2 of them! Then said that when we went around the next bend there it would be waiting to collect us and take us on a journey, to which he replied, "good - they should have a cure for Parkinsons if they are so advanced". Made me sad that he should think like that, I don't know why, it was just he didn't think of something else trivial to wish for. However I still maintain our carers and those who love us have a very tough time. Mr Parky touches all who know us.
hope you are all having a good day, the sun is shining here, and sorry but yes I have been singing. 'There'll be bleubirds over the white cliffs of Dover', no idea why. Just enjoyed it.
Out for the day tomorrow in Shrewsbury, then Chester again Thursday. Oh, and my golfer husband won his second Comptition in 10 days. Who's a clever boy then!!! Although he will be cut by 2 handicap points now. Good luck to you all from Wales. Heather (Prill)

Hello HP
As an ex golfer I am green (no pun intended) with envy that your other half has won again. Only cut 2 points? Phew!
I appreciate your reaction to your husband re reflections but just goes to show he is concerned for you. It was a knee jerk reaction. I know that that sort of remark does not help you but on the other hand it does show that he is thinking of you and the "it" that you both have to live with. Mr. Parky never gives up but by the same token you should never give into Mr. Parky. Give him the two finger salute, set your jaw and give him a mouthful of "£$%)(*&*&^%$£. You will, I hope, then feel much better. :D
Not wishing your life away Sunday according to the Met Office would appear the best day for the remainder of the week.
I'm going back to the railway Sunday. When I figure how to get my phone snaps off to the PC I will post.
Have as good a day as you can,
Drew
