I am hoping to go on holiday to Ibiza for a week at the same time as my daughter and grandchildren. Does anyone know if having parkinsons will be a problem for medical insurance cover?

Hi maryg, My wife who sorts such things out says that we have to pay more for travel insurance. If you do not declare it the insurance will be void of course if you make a claim and they find out. Oh and it takes longer to arrange. I think they are just ripping us off. Car insurance does not cost more if you have PD so why travel insurance? Dunno

Thanks Drew for your reply to my travel insurace question. I am going to the post office tomorrow to get some forms to fill in and then I will perhaps find out just how much extra it is going to cost!!

I am going to Croatia in Oct and purchased trip cancellation insurance, but not medical. I guess I had better see if need to.

If you find a world wide web insurance company that does NOT charge extra if you have PD please let us all know. You could perhaps tell them that if they do not charge extra they could be get a lot of clients from this forum! Haggling can be great fun.
Have the best day that you can, Drew

Hi Drew
Have a look at www.gotravelinsurance.co.uk .I have this morning been quoted £20.68 for 2 adults to be insured for 8 days. I rang them up as advised and told them I have parkinsons and they said I will not have to pay any extra for this condition so long as they have been made aware of it.

Hi All
When Jim and i went to Iceland 3 years ago we had to pay, it was £25 ask the travel agent to read the small print for you ,
my mum also had to because she has a heart problem, but she did it through the local [ village] insurance and it was much cheaper

I found out that my health insurance will still cover me while I am traveling out of the country.
