At this moment, I'm O.K. In 2 minutes, I'll concede to another limitation (like having to type with 2 fingers), and go crashing down. I'm 58, diagnosed 7 years ago, coasted on Requip for 6 1/2 years. Now I'm twisted, hunched, shuffling, and shaky, and scared to go on Sinemet. Please share with me--good, bad, alternatives. This can't be as good as I'll ever be.

Hi Peggy T.

My husband Tony is on Sinemet and has had excellent result with it. He takes a combination of Sinemet and Requip and it has proven to be very good for him. He was diagnosed 4 years ago but we now realize that he had several symptoms way before his diagnosis.

I hope you get over being afraid to go on Sinemet. I also hope for you that it proves to be as good for you as it is for my husband, or better.

God bless you.
Margie :)

Hi Peggy T.,

I know what you mean. It's 4:03 AM here in Jamaica, Queens, NY and I should go to bed too. But I keep searching and reading and getting comfort out of having this Forum and my dear friends.

Talk with you soon again. Hope you have a really good day.
Margie :)

Peggy, I was diagnosed three years ago and take requip and sinement. I was also scared to go on sinement. I made the decision that my quality of life today was too important to not give it a try. I haven't had any problems with it. I am still looking at other alternatives, but in the meantime, it keeps me moving. Gail

Hi Peggy,
Indeed this is not as good as you get. There are lots of different medications out there and there are a lot of people benefitting for them. There is also a medication just for you. When you give up hope that is when it is as good as it gets.
I will keep you in my prayers
God bless

Hi Peggy
Sinemet is my salvation. I was diagnosed 8 years ago and with the usual trial and error on various meds sinemet and azilect does it for me. I would suggest you start on 62.5 strength sinemet. I have noticed a lot of people are prescribed 125 strength but that is like using a sledge hammer to crush a grape. By starting on a lowish dose you can always increase to get the correct level for you. I also take azilect 1mg once per day which helps the sinemet get to where it is needed faster. I think of it as my super highway. Hope this info helps
God Bless
