I am a new member of the forum. I was diagnosed with PD about 3 years ago.
I am taking 4mg of Requip four times a day and the neurologist has recently added 50 mg of Stalevo 3 times a day. I am having side effects of drowsiness and nausea. I would like to hear from someone who has taken the same medications. Did it help your shakey hand and your walking?

Hi nana-jo,
Welcome to the forum. I was also diagnosed three years ago. I take 4mg of requip 4 times a day with sinement. I have never taken stalevo. When I first started the requip I suffered from the nausea, but soon got over that. It still makes me drowsy, but only during the day, never at night when I should be sleeping. The requip made my symptons worse when I first started taking it, but now it really helps my walking. I don't have shakey hands. Gail

Thanks for the reply.
How long did it take to see good results?
I think I will ask my doctor to try Sinement instead of Stalevo. I have only been on Stalevo a short while and the results have not been reemarkable.
Is Sinement expensive? Stalevo is and it does not come in generic form.
Hope you have a great day.

Hi Nana-jo
I'm on stalevo & it's been fantastic, it has stopped my shakes significantly and I'm like a prima ballerina in my sparkly red tutu.
I'm confident enough to wear high heels and only fall off them when
a) Drunk b) too near edge of stage c) sneeze
give it a couple of months . I take it alongside Mirapexin & feel like a young spring gazelle !

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
If I have not seen significant improvement in a couple of months, I will ask the doctor about Mirapexin.
Is it an expensive drug? Does it have a generic?
Thanks and have a great day.

Hi, I have had PD for a long time, and Sinemet Plus for many years - worked perfectly till recently.
have now added Rasagiline - made me light headed at first, Neupro patches -take domperidone to stop sickness and tummy troubles, and switched from Sinemet to Stalevo 100 6 times aday. Stalevo for me much better than Sinemet, at end,not beginning, but Stalevo working less now and going to try 150mg 6x a day. Take Madopar dispersibles in emergencies.
Usually your doctor can suggest something for side effects, so have a chat with him.
Hope this helps

Hi Nana-jo
Mirapexin or pramipexole comes in different strengths of salt content which is why it is not used a lot since they don't understand how to prescribe it.
It is an agonist it "jives and does the twist" with the remaining cells to swing them into releasing dopamine.
0.18mg & 0.7mg are taken by me 3 times a day but they are started off slowly with new people 0.18mg 1 three times a day & increased slowly.
I also take selegiline 5mg 2 in a morning
mirapexin are expensive but don't you think your worth it !
Of course you are ! Nothing is too expensive if it makes you feel good like my red tutu !
keep well

Hi Nana-Jo
I've had PD for 17 yrs now and been taking Sinamet & Mirapex from almost the beginning... I take .25 mg 3X/day Mirapex and .25 mg -100 mg 3X/day of Sinemet.. Works wonder for me. Never had side effects with any of my meds. By the way there is no generic for Mirape (in Canada anyway).
But lately I had problems with a new med taken for only 3 days and giving me hallucinations, lost of balance, stuttering, etc but was changed for Comtan and I feel better than ever. For the past 2 mos I've broken my wrist due to that new prescription but I'm back on track now. It takes me approx 4-6 mos for new meds to prove themselves!!! Keeping positive is the key to good health!!!
Hope this help you a bit, have a good night!:):):):)

Hope you have a great day. It tool a few months and a few adjustments of the medication before I saw results. I have good insurance so I only pay $5 dollars for a three month supply.

Hi Norma, my blood pressure went low for awhile but my body adjusted. Your profile does not say where you are from, but I have posted twice on Walgreen's for COQ10. They have a web site but they are everywhere in the US.
I don't take agoinist because I am already a little obsessive/ compulsive and since I am single, there is no one to check if I start over buying stuff or gamble. I was also working until recently and wouldn't take the agoinist because you do get sleepy and can fall asleep instantly. Since I have to drive to work and pick up my daughter, that will not work for me. I also have a friend that sees purple monkeys with her agoinist. I am not sure which one it is. I do take sinemet, Azilect and amanadine. I was nausea when I started sinemet but it went away.
