I have to say when we found out that my husband had Parkinsons we were devastated, my father in law also has the disease, and we were always told that it was not hereditary!
Its now 18 months since and as a family we are trying to cope with seeing what will no doubt be the future.
My father in law has had the disease for 17 years he was diagnosed at 62 my husband was 53, and we live in fear that our children may be effected:confused:.

Remember to focus on what is truly important to yourself and your family. The distractions of the daily grid and chores can take you away from what is really important, but always remain true to yourself, your values, and your goals. Therein lies the path to happiness.

Friends
A friend is someone we turn to
when our spirits need a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure
for our friendship is a gift.
A friend is someone who fills our lives
with beauty, joy, and grace.
And makes the whole world we live in
a better and happier place.

Words of Wisdom...
Laughter is like changing a baby's nappy. It doesn't
permanently solve any problems, but it makes things more
acceptable for awhile.

Hello Sinningdale,
There is no evidence that PD is hereditary. The fact that your husband and his father have unfortunately both got PD is co-incidental. I hope they are both coping well with the disease.
Hope you are all having the best day you can
