Hello from a care giver. My name is Bonnie, married 36 years to Bob who was diagnosed with PD in August of 2006 (although he had probably been sick a lot longer than he let on) he is on Sinemet and Comptan at least 5 times a day and some times 6. He won't go to the Dr. or talk to anyone about his deep depression and he has what he calls "PD attacks" stiffens can't walk or manage anything and shakes uncontrollably even though he is on his meds. He is a nice man but he prays for death daily. I am living this disease one day at a time and recognizing that I have no control over just about everything. Does anyone have any thoughts? I would love to hear from another care giver who is married to a difficult patient.
Thank you
B

hi bonnie, i am a pd sufferer so cant offer you much advise as a carer, pd symptoms are different with everyone some can be similar and depression can be part of pd i am one of the lucky ones mine is quite a slow progression and know one who has pd can explain to someone who hasnt just how it feels, you have all sorts of emotions from anger why me, to feeling sorry for your self i know how hard it must be for you but tell your husband he is still the same person he was before only now he has an extra passenger the secret is to adapt to the pd do the things he used to do only in a different way everyone has their own way of dealing with it and it takes longer for some to come to terms with it than others but one things for sure its not going to go away sorry to be so blunt dont mean to be, take care speak to you soon.
