May the weather be good wherever you are;
May the days be good for each and everyone;
May the nights bring restful sleep and peace;
May the mornings find you rested and refreshed;
May you always have a good friend to care;

I wish for all of you so many good things. It is so wonderful to be part of such a loving community of friends on the Forum. I just want to say thank you for letting me be a part of this 'Family'.

Margie :)

Hi Margie,
Thank you for those beautiful words.
To Margie and everyone on the forum. I can't believe that after all this time I have found people who not only know what I am talking about, but are willing to share their experiences. Parkinsons can be such a taboo subject. People don't talk about it and so the ignorance grows.
Not only that, but everyone on the forum is so warm and so human. It's actually nice to belong to this community even if it is as a carer.
God bless you all
Geraldine

Geraldine Geraldine, I agree. It took me six months to tell my family I had PD and two years to tell anyone else. It is nice to be able to share with people who understand. Gail

Dear Geraldine,

We've all found how everyone on the forum is so warm and so human. It's a gift to have 'stumbled' onto it as I did. Just when I thought there was no one to talk with that would understand I found the Forum...with all of you on it.

God bless all of you.

Love,
Margie :)

Hi Gail,

I'm so glad you are here with us. It is wonderful to be able to share with people who understand all around feelings. The feelings of the individuals with PD and their caregivers.

Hope you have a very good weekend.

Margie :)

I too, like Clair Bear am very new to this site. It is 02.58am here right now, and it is impossible to sleep - last night spent the night in hospital emergency department, and tonight, find it wonderful that I can read all about you guys and feel so cared for and less alone. Thank you, I wish you all well, Filo.

Dear ltd_addition,

It's been a rough ride here at the old homestead lately. But I believe soon it is going to smoothen out...I hope.

Your caring ways, your great spirit and that tutu of yours helps so many days to cheer me up and keep me going. I thank you for that way beyond words.

Hope you are coping well being back at work and all the other things you have to accomplish. I think of you each and every day, dear friend.

Talk with you very soon again.

Love,
Shiraz :)

Hi Guy's

i know its difficult to sleep because for 5 year the most amount of sleep I had was 3 hours. Now I can sleep through a thunder storm & wake up stiff sore & in pain but thoroughly thrilled because i slept.
I was in a high stress job but didn't realize it until I came out of it.
What I know is that even though ~~I may not feel stressed, my body cannot hide itself any more & that's when I know I need time out.

If your in a party of people & you realize your stressed , count in a rhythm or sing to yourself ( in your mind, otherwise I'd sound like a male transvestite) It has the ability of psychologically regulating your breathing whilst calming your mind & body. It took me five minutes to sing a song which I love to hear but I never finish it now because I'm asleep

Nite nite

Every one is different so what works for one may need tweeking for another.
Give it a try what you got to lose !

Thanks for all your messages, and tips on sleeping - wonderful! I am trying them out as we speak. Going back to bed shortly to try again. Less stress is a great help, and admitting that after no sleep, having to perform well at work was impossible has been very difficult for me. I spoke to my Dr who advises that sometimes one just has to rest and accept the way things are, without giving up completely! I know everyone is different, but for me this seems to make sense. I tried not going to sleep when I needed to during the day, but this only resulted in me not sleeping day or night and becoming too tired. So I nap when I need to now, and being able to go back to bed in the morning after a long sleepless night, means afternoons are better.

This has all happened so quickly, and new problems seem to come up almost weekly. This last few weeks I am having real problems swallowing - any tips would be helpful - you are all so amazing.

thanks again,

Filo

Give it a try what you got to lose ! I tried singing myself to sleep last night and ended up with the giggles and still couldn't sleep. So I was still tired today, but at least I was happy. I did shut my office door and did the counting and breathing today before a meeting, it did seem to relax me for a while. thanks...Gail
