Hello,
It's Lianna Marie.

So come on over with your cup of coffee (or tea if you prefer!) and visit and meet new friends from all over the world.

Hello Lianna Marie,
This is Margie. Thank you for all the hard work and tremendous effort you put into this wonderful forum. I look forward to logging in every day and talking with people that are becoming friends.
Might I ask you if there are any guidelines I could get on using a forum. I'm doing pretty good but get confused sometimes. I think some of the posts and/or threads I've sent aren't going through; but maybe they are. I goof sometimes :(.
Thank you again for everything and for any advice you can give me on proper use of the forum.

This is my first go at this so will try to do it right. Are we allowed to ask questions about Parkinsonson this?
Also does anyone know who is going to win the Kentucky Derby? I just downloaded and printed the past performances or the races. We will see if my 34 pages of the races that day were worth the trouble. I live in Las Vegas so we have over 100 places to bet.

Llianna, Thank you so much for setting up this Forum. It's great. I enjoy sharing my experiences of how PD affects me with other "movers and shakers". Life is not a rehearsal for anything else. This is what we have so try and enjoy every day, keep smiling and have a good laugh as often as possible. If depression kicks in see your doctor and get medicataion to help. A strange thing - I have a mobility scooter which I use daily and I am amazed how many more people speak to me when I'm charging around on my chariot. I think it would be great to set up a chapter of "scooterers" and whizz around my local area. Oh, that would be great fun. with matching leathers of course. These scooters can achieve 4,6 and some 8 m.p.h. Wow! In the words of Ty off Exreme Makeover - "Lets do it!" Only kidding but then again .......

It's Kathie here. This is my first time at this coffee/tea morning. Please hand me a strong cup of tea. Love my cuppa in the morning - especially with friends.
My Parkinsons was diagnosed about 3 years but when I look into the past I've probably had it for 8 - 10 years. It's been a real pain discovering this but after my year or so of moarning I know now to take one day at a time and have fun. Last year I went to England by myself to visit my daughter and her family and it was amazing how I could cope, though dyskinesia in the hips can be exhausting. At first I didn't want to take the advice of friends to use the wheelchair during changes of airlines - my pride, tsk tsk - but I finally did and was glad of it. It was hilarious at customs because I was frisked!!! x 2 while in the wheel chair. But then my passport photo does make me look like an alien. I did have a lovely 5 weeks in Ely just out of Cambridge.
Have any of you a problem with memory? I'm not sure its because of age or PD or both. Names are becoming more of a problem for me and I find it exhausting trying to remember them. Love to have a reply dear new friends.

Hi Lianna
Thank you so much for setting up this forum. It makes such a difference to us "Parkers" as ltd-addition calls us. I'm sure even you are surprised at the way the site has grown so quickly but of course the reason for that is that it works extremely well.
When the sun goes over the yard arm tonight I will have a G & T with ice and a slice and toast all the Parkers
I hope everyone has the best day that they can manage:)
Kindest regards

Hi Susan,
Yes my husband and I went to Branson,Missouri we got to see Paul Revere and the Raiders perform. My husband bought us a leather jacket a like. It turned cold on us anyway I let them sign the back of my jacket. We had a wonderful time. He even got me a new pant suit and the best of all 4 pounds of fudge. Time has gone by fast. It seems like yesterday that he asked me to marry him.

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to tell you I am going out tonight for "girls' night out" --- We play a silly game called "Pokeno" once a month, going to a different member's house each month. A new-ish member is hosting tonight, about 10 miles away from my home. Hostess cooks dinner for all twelve, and then we play; then we have dessert and play some more. I really look forward to it, and hope to win a prize (Everyone brings a prize, so everyone usually wins something). Just an excuse to get together for girl chatter. Not big prizes, we limit it to $10; but everyone likes to win -- right?
Wish me luck.

Hi I need a cup of decaf coffee with milk and sugar. Ever since I have had Parkinson's (12 years) I cannot drink tea or coffee. It makes me very shaky, even decaf tea! I really miss my tea but as long as I can still have chocolate I'm fine .
I'm not sure if there is a conversation thread or if we just start but here goes. Does anyone else have a problem with sore shoulders and arms? This problem wakes me up at night due to the pain. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.
I think I'll get another cup of decaf.

I think you may have been better putting it in the
General questions about Parkinsons , but i'm sure you will be found in hear
I will share a cup off coffee with you, but not decf , black and strong please:):)
Jim's neck is very stiff almost fused, and to move his arm was difficult, and he always had his shoulders hunched up
Drew did a great post on Diazipam , for relaxing
My hubby was so stiff and difficult to move
his neck is very stiff almost fused, and to move his arm was difficult, and he always had his shoulders hunched up
His doctor started him 2mg 3 x day ,[as needed] and it made a difference,in a few days, he has been on a week, and next week are upping it, he a little sleepy for about 20 min in the morning, so i gave it him whilst i got things organised ,and a cup coffee
we didn't expect miracle's, as he hasn't moved much for about 18months , so to be able to lift his arms with out hurting, and move/lift legs to help put his trousers on , is more than we could have hoped for

Hi Paulie
Sore Shoulders with stiffness !!!!
Yes I'm feeling the pain with you
It makes it too difficult whilst wearing my tutu to swirl at times on stage.
Only joking
Yes I'm in your boat pet
currently I'm receiving physio and fortunately ultra sound to alleviate the inflammation.
My problem started whilst I was "under medicated by accident"
Parker's affects my left side & whilst I'm right handed it did all of the work. Hence inflammation of right shoulder and tendons
The left side lost its use & I lost muscle tone & movement. My left side basically went into spasm. Now I'm up to speed with my medication & I'm using my left arm again, It is now inflamed.
So far I'm a silly young spring Gazelle for not continuing to take painkillers. However I'm telling myself off & will start again today. Paracetamol & Ibuprofen

Hi there silly young spring Gazelle!
You better take those pain killers...or else you'll have to answer to me.
You are going through so much difficulty and pain and I wasn't even aware of it. I wish there was something I could do or say to lighten your physical and emotional pain. I can love you and pray for you...but I wish I could do something immediate.
I'm glad I got to read this post. I've been catching up with so many new members and reading, reading, reading. Haven't been able to reply or welcome too many as here at home is a little difficult right now.
Young Spring Gazelle, here is something special just for you:

Hi Heather,
Been on and off the computer. No picture posting lately...just in a bit of a slump on pictures. I got on to a smiley site and it had a virus and messed up several parts of my computer. It still isn't right but at least I can correspond with my friends on the Forum a bit. It goes out ever so often...until it is fixed completely. What a mess it was. I couldn't have fixed it. Chris spent his evenings straightening out so many things that had gone wrong after he came home from work. There are still some glitches but mostly everything is up and running.
How is Jim? Is the Diazapam still doing well by him. Gee, I sure hope so. Tell him Tony and I said hello.
How are you doing, dear Heather? Those jokes and puns you put on here for us are treasures. I really have much delight in reading them. Thank you.
Be well, dear friend. Hope you and Jim share a beautiful day together tomorrow.
Love,
Margie :)

Hi Heather,
Just to see how you and Jim are? Are you still giving Jim the Diazabam? And if so, is it still helping? I hope so.
Tony went to a Chiropractor today. His chin is almost touching his chest and his GP said he should wear a neck brace for at least two hours a day to help strengthen the muscles in his neck. He won't wear a neck brace. But I'm so glad he went to the Chiropractor. This doctor is highly recommended here in the States. He has started to work with Tony and the results have already started to show tonight. He can raise his head off his chest a little. It will be a gradual process but it should be about 85% helpful. I'm so thankful for this. I hope it works.
I'm not up to par...feeling down. Lack of sleep plus my son and daughter had a terrible disagreement and are not talking with each other. They are both adults in their 40s and should realize that life is precious and that family is very important. My daughter has tried to call my son but he won't answer her. This is causing tremendous stress and I don't know how to handle it. Maybe I'm just because Tony just says...leave them alone, it will work out. But as a mom, I wish my son would talk to my daughter. Tony always seems to sweep things under the carpet so to speak. That is his way of coping with situations.
Thank you for listening. I needed to talk with you a bit Heather. I'm reading all the posts but not answering many. It gives me such a comfort to read the things on our Forum.:)

Hi Geraldine,
I've written you just a few minutes before but I forgot to click "submit reply" at the bottom and I backspaced and seemed to have lost my note to you. If you get two that are somewhat similar...you will know why.
Just read your letter to me. Thank you for caring and your prayers. You are in my daily prayers too dear friend.
Praying is what I seem to do most lately. That is the only way I am able to cope lately. It's getting harder and harder to see Tony so incapacitated. I know God is helping us, but being human I want to see visible results and that is questioning His way. I've got to be more patient and trusting. I'm working on it but I seem to go five steps forward and twenty steps backward.
Has your father gone to the hospital yet for his new meds? If so, how is he doing with them? Good, I hope. Please let me know..
How are you doing, dear Geraldine? Are you getting enough sleep and some relaxation? Do you have a special hobby that you enjoy? Please take care of yourself and allow some special time for you.
Talk with you soon.
God Bless
Margie:)

Hi Young Spring Gazelle,
Hope you had a terrific evening out with your hubby. I can just picture you in that new red tutu. Bet you wore red, sparkling, high heels and a red sparkling ribbon in your hair. As a song is entitled: THE LADY IN RED!!! Have you heard it? It's a very nice song.
Tony's having many difficulties and doesn't always cooperate with what he should do. I'm having a hard time with coping right now. I'm praying a lot, as that is the one way I seem to be able to get through the days and nights. I've got to learn to trust more. But being a human being sometimes I just get tired.
Plus my daughter and one of my sons (Chris) have had an awful argument. My daughter has called my son several times but he refuses to talk with her. It's creating a lot of stress here as the son she had the argument is the one here with us.
Hope your process of keeping your job until you can medically retire is going well.
Mainly, I hope that you are having many good days and are able to sleep well most nights. I think of you each day.
Your floral arrangement hasn't arrived yet but I know when it does it will brighten up my 'little corner' each day.
Did you dance in your red tutu?:confused:
Love you,
Margie

Hi Margie, my dear special friend
so glad Tony is having some treatment that is slowly working
he sounds like what i say about Jim, "i'm not going to do anything you say mood", When Jim gets like this, i just tell him to please himself, it's his life he is wasting ,and turn away, i find a sharp shock works, but like we always say what works for one doesn't always work for another
Jim is still on the Diazapam he gets 4 mgm am and 2 mgm pm to help him relax to sleep, i'm off work this week so may try him with 5 mgm am, he is very sleepy for about 1 hour or so after, but still finding it hard to sit in chair for long, as he seems to ache
I have replied in your other post about Chris and his sister
I honestly think you will have to get them together, and tell them how it's affecting you and Tony, even if you think it would be better with out Tony, I believe in honesty and being open, but may be you will get it over to them better without Tony saying there isn't a problem. they have to understand that your health is the most important, without you who will care for Tony
take care my friend, you are always in my prays and thought's

Have been very busy of late and cannot believe how this forum has grown during my 'away' period. Do not have time to read them all, have posted answers to a coupe of threads, had to say we have just celebrated our birthdays, and 43rd Wedding Anniversary, all in the past couple of weeks.
Had a rough night, fell down twice, for the first time), so took a sleeping pill last night (Sat), thought a good sleep might help. It did and we ended up inviting the neighbours in for a glass of wine before lunch. Had a lovely day. They were most complementary about our gardeh, which was rather rewarding

Hi Margie,
Sorry I haven't been in touch sooner, but father is having a bad time and when he is like that it's all rather time consuming. You know how it is. He hasn't received his date for the hospital yet and is still on his old medication. He is not getting any benefit from his medication and so is quite stiff and hard to manage. He is having awful problems with his bowels and he's sleeping quite a bit. My heart really does go out to him. All we can do is pray!
I am sorry to hear about your son and daughter. It is terrible when there is bad feeling in a family. Though I don't think there is one family who doesn't have some sort of disagreement. I have two brothers who in theory should be helping out with my father. My youngest brother is not too bad (he will help when he has to) but the older of my two brothers does nothing. Where I have come to accept this and just get on with it, my younger brother at times resents the fact that my other brother does nothing. I have told them both that they are both my brothers and that in my home there is an 'open door' policy. That is anyone no matter what is welcome in my home at any time and that this applies equally to everyone.
At the minute my brothers are talking to each other but I know that within the next two to three weeks it will all happen again. How do I know - well, I work as projects director of an overseas aid organisation and this entails me having to go to Romania for 4-5 weeks in the summer and my younger brother takes over looking after my father while I am away. I will be heading off on the 4 July and as it comes up to the date for me going away my brother starts to get worked up about what the other brother doesn't do. I think part of the problem is that he gets himself stressed out about the responsibility of looking after my father. I really can't do much about it as I need to work because I need the money to live. I have thought of looking for another job, but that wouldn't help. With this job I can work from home whenever I am needed, which means I can take my father to all his appointments and be with him when he needs me (except when I am in Romania). I pray about this day and daily. If I were you I would present your son and daughter to God and allow Him to sort it out. Parkinsons causes a lot of stress in a family and stress shows itself in different ways.
You are in my prayers as always
God bless
Geraldine

My husband's head and chin sink toward his neck, too. Our dr. told him that he could help alleviate this, if he would just lie flat of his back without a pillow, for even 10 minutes per day. He won't do it, I don't know why. I guess it is just too uncomfortable.

Hi Diane
Jim started with that and the physiotherapist tried to get him to do different exercises, which he did and it helped, but he soon got feed up, and now his neck is starting to fuse, so tell dad this will happen, and it's not a threat, he then will find it difficult, to relax/ move

Hi Susan
You are not waffling
When some of us came on hear, it was very small, and not many posting
now we have so many, new friends, I sometimes have to go back 2or 3 pages to catch up.
because i only get out about once a week [Sunday Bingo] and only work 9 -1 pm 3 days a week ,and my Grandson goes home latest 6.30 Pm, and once i sort Jim out catch up on house work, I have time in a evening to follow Notification e-mail's. Jim doesn't speak, so you are all my company.
so don't feel bad, It's never to late to give a answer, even If someone has answered with what you where going to say, it doesn't matter, as it backs up what's been said, then we all feel in the same boat, and the person answering the post's feels, it works/ happening to someone else
see now i'm waffling :D:D:D

Hi Susan,
Don't worry about when you answer any Post and/or Quote. I have the same trouble as you do. I even tried to print out all the posts/threads I read and answered but that was an impossible task, especially now when so many more members have joined the Forum.
Like Heather says, whenever you read and/or answer something...that is the right time. Any advice, help, information, etc. given by you, even if it is late...will be a positive. So keep on going the way you are doing. You will catch up with others and they will catch up with you...and don't you dare "shut up now"...God Bless you.

Hi Margie
today Wednesday is chilly, had a little sun this am, but rest of week has been lovely, Jim satin Garden and watched me fill skip, Monday, yesterday, got Gas Bar BQ out been stored in Garage for about 3 years, so scrubbed it etc, and hope to do a big family BBQ on Sunday , well that's the Plan, but my plans never seem to work these days, it's given weather mixed for weekend  well it is the UK  the 3 grand children came from school yesterday, and we all sat and ate tea out side, I took them home about 6.30 Pm
So Glad to hear Tony is having some good time, what's the weather like your end , as i find we feel better, with some sun, but not to hot
I have a saying my friend
The house work will be tomorrow/ next week, the dust will always visit, and if anyone want's to rob me, they will take what they want if i have dusted /wasted it or not
If i have visitors, and they don't like it, I haven't moved the door since the walked in, we no how important it is to treasure out time, or spend the time , looking after our loved ones needs, and if any one can't understand that, then they need to come and spend some days with us
Take care my friend and love to all

Kathie x
This is Heather(Prill)
Had an exhausting day getting ready for my Coffee Morning tomorrow. Expecting 30/40 people, have a few stalls etc, raising money for 'Air Ambulance' this time, it was parkies last year. Love reading any item from newly diagnosed PD'ers. Not glad you have had Mr Parky move in with you but it is great that you are communicating with others. I know those who once diagnosed, sit in their chair and say 'I am ill, I cannot possibly do this or that''. Nonsense, I know this is an old quote but still true. When a friend reached 100, is still going strong at 102! She said. 'It is mind over matter, If I don't mind it doesn't matter' The same applies to parkies, ignore it as much as one can whilst being sensible about medication, no trying the impossible, but don't sit back and accept it either. hope that is not preaching. i know I am going to get worse but will face it as and when, who knows what the future has in store, none of us do so why meet it before we have to. I am feeling very sorry for myself at the moment, I said in previous correspondence I fell heavily on my coccyx last week, and it is getting worse, finding sitting, standing, bending almost impossible, so have to have an x-ray Thursday next. Still at least I know this will get better.
So must stay cheerful, the sun is shining and the garden looks great, I just need dry weather tomorrow please.
Good luck and happy thoughts to everyone. Heather(P)

Hi Heather P
sorry to hear your pride area is still bothering you, hope the xray goes well
Hope they are not all women coming to your coffee morning, just imagine 30/40 women in your garden, the birds wouldn't stand a chance :D:D
It's like you said it's so nice to have so many new members,to chat to
we have always ignored Jim illness, and done what we thought was best for both of us
take care and havea nice strong black coffee for me tomorrow, and as many chocolate and cream cakes as you can eat :D

oh heather p painful but like you say it will get better, the thing about ignoring the parkie is not a bad idea i have tried to do that for the last 5yrs if you have a posative attitude it does help, hope your coffee morning goes well and you raise lots of money for the air ambulance good luck.

Hi Susan I finished at 2pm today as well only because I'm on a phased return having had my operation (On me bits & Piece's) I had to teach a colleague how to use Dragon the speak type program since both her wrists have problems with typing. Poor lass only saw me posterior up in the air answering a phone that stopped long enough for me to say hello. So she is coming back at 10am for another attempt to see how it works!!

Hi Susan,
Tony, my husband, would agree with Michael sometimes. After being married 46 years Tony has learned to turn me off, especially when he is watching sports. But then I wait until the commercials come and get in a few words. Women need to talk...men do too...but they don't always do it/or admit it. But we love them to pieces anyway :).
Talk again soon.
God bless,
Margie

Hi ltd_additiion,
I just posted something for you in the wrong place so here is a duplicate. Getting fancy you know.
Hope you are really feeling well after what you've been through. It's probably a mixed blessing getting back to work. Store up that energy so you can teach that colleague what she needs to learn and have time left over to do a dance or two in that red tutu...or should I say your pink tutu with the red edges. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn88/Bronx628Margie/thedancer.jpg
After work by my invite stop in and have a nice glass of red shiraz and relax.

Thank you for caring, I'm truly humbled
I'd love to pop in for a Glass of Shiraz with you Margie.
I've not been on the forum much since returning back to work.
Thank Goodness for our Heather & Drew who ring to check I'm OK
Difficulties typing alongside my keyboard breaking have caused me some swear box money!
My red tutu looked totally stunning on my first day!
I didn't realize how much I was missed as every day I've been kissed & cuddled , I'm now thinking that its definitely worth all the difficulties of fighting to stay employed, just to see work colleagues smile .
I'm here & on call for anyone who needs a nutter dressed in a Red tutu with Parker's wearing high heeled shoes, to talk too !

Good for you...getting the welcome back at work you deserve. I only hope the 'bosses' realize the valuable worker they have in you and keep you on until you can get that medical retirement.
You are greatly missed on the Forum. But take it easy. Don't dish out too much for yourself all at once. THAT'S AN ORDER!;););)
Now, another order is to sit down and enjoy a glass or Shiraz with music you like (in the background) and enjoy. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn88/Bronx628Margie/IMG_0740.jpg

Hi Clair Bear,
Shiraz definitely goes with ICE CREAM - any flavor. Come join us. I'll tell you what...you go get that shoulder better and when you come back we will have another party.
Shiraz, ice cream (numerous flavors), pretzels, sandwiches and all that is good, especially the day.

we could ask Lianna if she would do a special section

I could try and move pictures already posted, under the people name posting them

Go to upload option when screen updates.
Choose your picture from your PC (probably My Pictures or folder you have created).
Bottom left of screen select IMG.
Go to forum page.
Paste picture. It will show as img guggely gook.

Sue, I m struggling with the whole picture posting thing too. I don't think we are dumb, I chose to blame it on the photo bucket.
Hi Ladies
you are not dumb, we all had to learn
if you have made a photo album
and have down loaded photobucket , you are 3/4 of the way
there
have you looked in the computer section,
I have done it step by step there
Sue all you need is to resize, have done it in this post

Drew have you deleted this from your photobucket
or moved it into another album in photobucket
once you post it, you can't delete it or move it
I have to 3 albums
one labelled site pictures, ones i can't use again [welcome with people name on it] but cant delete, but don't want to over fill my main album
one with all, good morning, good evening, hello etc they are ones i use a lot, and want to find them quickly
the other
my main album
Other wise the album gets to big to find what I want, and i can't remember where i have posted it, so can't delete

Hi Sue, Heather has, as always, got it spot on. For this forum I suggest 100 x75 (Tiny) in the resize photobucket page. In the meantime we get yet another look at this lovely little boy.

Hi Llianna
What a wonderful find, you and your forum. As you can probably tell from my logging in times, I have difficulty sleeping through the night. No difficulty during the day though!
I used to always have a book by my bedside, but the eyes don't take to the small print quite so well these days. No problem anymore, I log in and read all the positive thoughts, ideas and comments and I don't feel alone anymore.
I have some photographs some of our fellow friends have asked me to share with the forum but I don't know how to display them. They are part of my collection from my imminent exhibition in my local library. If you run me through the proceedure I will see what I can do, although all this technology is fairly new to me.
Once again thankyou for all your hard work and encouragement to all PD sufferers around the world.
Kind regards

Morning from Tryphena(Heather W). A big thank you to Lianne Marie.
Just logged on and read an email from Lianne Marie when she first sent the forum address, I have kept it, as like the majority of people using it I am sure, I always feel grateful to Lianne for her book and this brilliant idea. Not feeling my chirpy best this morning, have pains where I did not previously know I had body if you get me.... Must get over it as we are off to collect the grandchildren for a couple of hours as my Daughter=in-law is lecturing in Manchester and staying the night, some people have all the luck. we have to watch the children until my son arrives home. Then we will put them to bed and have supper plus a good old natter!!!
hope you all have a lovely day. Tryphena

Thanks Tryphena, I am pretty pleased with my granddaughters. I got to spend quite a bit of time with them this weekend. The baby is content to just east and sleep. Her big suster was a lot more work at a week and a half.
Hope you get the aches out this morning so you could enjoy your grandkids. What does a good old natter mean ?

Juanita,
I don't think I ever asked you how your camping trip was. We all went on vacation at the same time and then our computers starting crashing. We haven't had a good prattle in a while. I hope Sue gets her computer fixed soon.
Now that I know how to use the photo part of my computer, I will post a few pictures of my vacation. Croatia is a beautiful place.
Tryphena, I may want a natter too, depending on what that is. That one has me puzzled.

Hi Sue,
Thank you for your definition. I will try to remember that natter is a good chat! :) I think I will try it on my granddaughter who lives in New Zealand and see if she knows what it means. Natters are good, I see. :D
I am frustrated. It takes so long to move around on this computer--we are dial up. Seems like it takes forever and always feel like I need to hurry when I'm on here. To you and anyone else who is on the forum have a good day or a restful night's sleep whichever is appropriate for you. God bless.

Hi Sue,
I think we all need to moan from time to time. If we didn't, we wouldn't be human. I haven't had quite as good of results with the mucuna as you have had. I have been taking it with my other medication and take less now but can't function if I don't take it all. I think if I was in a less stressful job, it would work better.
Hope you get your computer soon. I know how hard it is to be without one.

I haven't given up on the mucuna yet and I do feel like it has helped.
When I bought my computer, I had them program it while I was there. I have gotten so use to doing everything online that I couldn't pay my bills until I had the computer. I knew if I hung around the store long enough they would set it up just to get rid of me.

Hi, Hope everyone is doing better. It sounded like we all started feeling poorly at the same time. Just like our computers did. Out of the blue, I have started feeling light headed several times throughout the day. I assume it is the medication. Hope it passes. I think I just need to schedule a week of rest. Between the two new babies, no one around here is getting much rest. My niece's baby has an infection and is still in the hospital, so we have been taking turns going to the hospital to feed her. I get the 5:00 morning and evening feedings. So i will be getting up in 2 hours and haven't gone to sleep yet.
Ok now I have done my moaning. Just wanted to say hi.

Hi Lianna
Its been a while since I contacted you. Just haven't been feeling too good. The Photograghy Exhibition went really well and is reshowing in the Library at Leominster over Christmas so I should be feeling over the moon.
I can't explain my depressed state , as I am not usually a sad sort of person. I just don't seem to be able to get around so well these days and its the slowing down thats depressing.
Family think I'm just getting old but I'm only 62! Perhaps you can give me a clue as to how to cheer up.

It's so good to be able to get back on and to post again. For almost a week I had been unable to post. Lianna is an awesome lady!!! During that time she has been working to get the wrinkles all worked out so I could post. I have had about 8 emails from her during that time. I really appreciate her concern and caring. It appears it ended up being a computer problem here. :o :o

THE BUZZARD, THE BAT AND THE BUMBLEBEE
THE BUZZARD: If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that the buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even try to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.
THE BAT: The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.
THE BUMBLEBEE: A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never see the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.
PEOPLE: In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up! Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, but faith look up! Live simply love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

Hi All, mine is a glass of good Barossa Shiraz!!
I know
I said I was going to be a more active member this year... smack my hand! Gosh I am so busy I sometimes see myself coming in the other direction!!!
I am still caring for my 87 yr old Mum, not to mention 3 big Sons!! and of course supporting the love of my life PD Hubby.
he is still flying the skies, the Siferol medication is still going ok as well, he is also trialing the CO Q 10. Because of his high pressure occupation it is hard to tell what is stress and what is Parkies.
His Drs are all happy with him, I find if I can manage to keep home life relatively stress free all is well, sometimes hard with 3 teenagers!!!
i don't see much of a change in his mild symptoms , it is almost a year since diagnosis.. he is a fatalist though and says he is getting worse, guess all I can do is support and be positive!
I enjoy reading all the posts and I am still here but as you can understand computer time for me is of low priority!
Take care all of you, shall drop in every now and again xxx

my mum is 86 this September, and still lives in her own bungalow, I take her shopping on a Friday, and my older brother cuts the lawns etc, other wise she looks after her self, and goes to a club on Wednesday afternoons, and Bingo Thursday night's, so we are lucky, it could be worse
take care our friend

Hi, just to prove somethings are impossible to lose. Heather(Tryphena), can't remember when I last logged on. i have just scrolled through a few letters and it is great to see Heather (I presume it is my 'toot when you pass Wrexham') friend, then Lianna, Juanita, Suzie, Pauline to name but a few are still around.
Being English I have to mention the weather, at the moment, brilliant sunshine, although not too hot. It has been scorching and 'I do not 'do' heat'.
Life is very complicated at the moment, I have my usual commitments, lunches, trips to visit friends etc. Life is pretty good really However all around there are people surrounded and paddling in deep water covering several miles of countryside. Luckily our house is in the right place.
My friend, whose partner died suddenly beginning of Feb. is settled in her new house, just 3 miles away, which is great, we pass (which we never do!) each others house every day so pop-in for a coffee quite often.
My son is having a large extension built onto his house in Chester. They are now in the 'knocking down walls' stage so they are having to move out of their house. We had all 4 of them here last week, they are now at her Mother's and then they come back to us the following week. Seem to have a good time, and wear me out, Ashley and Annette are painting and sorting at the 'new' house whilst we look after the furniture etc.. I just hope they will hurry up and they can decide between them when they can go back home. How selfish of me, a short stay by a grandchild is fun but 2 adults and 2 children, 5 and 8, too much,. I like my
own space.
I have been having medication trouble, and have not been using my PC as it argues with me and as you will know, stress is not a good thing. I am in the process of getting a laptop, my son is handling it for me!! I hope it performs better as I used to enjoy our chats.
Will have to read some of the threads through thoroughly as I do not have a clue what is the 'topic of conversation' of the moment.
I hope you are all well, or as well as can be expected. It has been a hard 2 months, so hopefully can only get better, trust you are all managing to control Mr Parkie, he is causing me waking problems otherwise is behaving quite well.
I will return. luv to you all. Heather(Tryhena)

Hi Tryphena,
Welcome back! We have missed you so much. The forum has been very quiet since summer has come along--oh,oh, it isn't summer for everyone though! Must be a different reason.. Anyway for one reason or another so many have not been on lately.
We have been having quite a lot of company and will be having more in another week--We thoroughly enjoy it, but do get really tired.
Hope to 'see' all my forum friends back soon. Blessings on all of you.

Hi from Heather(Tryphena) Just logged on as I am using my old PC for the last few days of its life.
I am developing a cold (I get them so rarely) I am feeling sorry for myself.
Have been busy with the grandchildren, who depart tomorrow for a few days in Holland with their Uncle, so I am glad I can 'enjoy my cold' in peace and quiet. 'NO NO NO it is NOT Swine Flu, everyone around who has a sniffle says they have the flu. Nonsense.
I am waiting for the heat-wave we have een promised by our Met Office, so we can use our new BBQ, I did write about this somewhere on the Forum, but suddenly got chopped off with it saying - you have not logged on..... never mind. Must away now, time for Supper, my husband is doing the cooking, well I let him go golfing this morning!! I will be back tomorrow if I can get my #@+*& machine to work.
Hope you are all keeping as well as can be expected, being given the right meds and not getting over-tired, will be in touch again soon. As I said lovely to see all the old names again. Luv to you all. Heather(Tryphena). atichoo.....

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu214/shortcut/2-1.gif to the forum
It has been very quiet on here over the christmas period, that is why you have not got a reply to your post.
We all tend to forget things, what I do to overcome that is write everything down. With your pills you can buy a box which has sections for each day of the week, you fill it up with your pills and by looking at it you will know if you have taken them or not.
If you think your meds do not work then get yourself back to your neurologist and let him know, there are so many different meds for PD, and what works for one person may not work for everybody, keep trying until you get the one that works for you.
I have PD for 11 yrs and I am still going strong.

Hi everyone. I'm Shep, male, age 59, retired, diagnosed 10 years ago. I live in Yorkshire, UK.
Hope everyone's fine, and no-one's currently stuck anywhere due to the closure of all air space over North-West Europe.
(A volcano in Iceland has gone off after being quiet for 190 years. This has filled the air with fine volcanic dust, which would destroy aero engines).
I'd love to hear from you all, especially those far away.

Wow, Tasmania!
All I know about Tasmania is that I saw it on TV when Billy Connolly went there, and the capital is Hobart. Oh, and real Tasmanian Devils look cuter than the cartoon one.
How big is the island, and how far is it from mainland Oz? How far from Yorkshire, UK? What side of the road do you drive on? What time is it there (relative to the UK)? What's the population?
Etc, etc.

Hi Geraldine

like Sue suggest may be a little help, someone to talk to face to face, may help, you can't lose anything , and hopefully you gain a lot, I no Jim and I did, we saw a psychiatrist for about 3 months, she would talk to Jim first then me after, the together, it made us stronger, what we both learnt was, we couldn't turn the clock back and playing ostrich didn't work,
we had to sink or swim, and she showed us the way to swim

BRIDGING THE GENERATION GAP
by Elaine Cunningham
The youth of today think my English is odd.
When I say AWESOME, I'm referrring to God.
To me, weather is COOL and childen are GAY
As they join their friends in innocent play.
POT is a kettle, a JOINT forms the floor,
COKE, a soft drink from the corner store.
DRUGS are to use when you're feeling sick.
A PUSHER is someone hardworking and quick.
SHRINK is a verb on labels and thread,
Not someone you pay to examine your head.
BROAD tells the width of a woman or shelf,
It doesn't refer to the lady herself.
A TURKEY is only a very large bird,
Not a name for a guy who acts like a NERD.
"GIMME FIVE," means money, nothing more.
It's never a handslap for making a score.
Somehow my words have lost their clout;
The grandkids don't know what I'm talking about.
But the phrase they use, and I do too,
That bridges the gap is "I love you."
