They say Geordie people are so happy go lucky because it's always raining in our area.
Because we stay in doors our sense of humour comes out & we are inquisitive folk who ask Direct questions.
We are a hardy people who have endured hardship with living on /beside a main river with heavy shipbuilding & coal mining. Since those industries have gone & the expertise of the work force has had to chance in order to survive we laugh at our hardship but laugh with each other.
We sing Geordie songs that are famous from here. We have strong friendships that last longer than royalty & respect the diversity of each individual.
No matter where you go you're bound to meet a Geordie!
I got to say though Pauline, as a people we are on target with our unofficial vocation of making folk feel welcome. Even when I sound like a female bloke (Bloke - man) when singing!
Thank Goodness laughing is good for you or I'd be a rare individual !! sleep well & dream sweetly

ltd, you could be talking about Scot's folk. Geordies and Jocks have a great affinity for each other. Laughing through adversity and seeing the daft side of life. When the south of England softies had a recession some years ago it made me laugh because for Geordies and Jocks it had been a way of life for years. As in the North East Scotland lost all its ship building and most of the mines but are we downhearted? Not a bit of it. Good company, a few jars, a bit of a sing song, chips on the way home - we know how to live the high life!
