Just to say hello.
I see there is another 'Heather' so I have added a bit to my name. By coincidence my maiden name was also Jones!
I am a retired Company Secretary. Diagnosed in 2002, coping
quite well I think, very very active, but very slow....
I am now 'a lady who lunches'.
I have just celebrated my 45th wedding anniversary (and they said it wouldn't last). My husband is a great support, I don't
know how I would manage without him.
I have two young (3 and 6) grandsons, who keep me very active, although I am not too good at football. I tell a good story.

To Dianne and Heather
How pleased I am to have discovered the delights of the PC.
The Prill is the name of my Father's house, many years ago.
I am an Aries, husband a Pisces. I assumed 'junior' was young and 'senior' was old, maybe not, I feel like a 'junior' so does it matter?
Past midnight so off to bed. Be in touch over the weekend.
Just discovered "Lianne" so have a lot of catching up to do, when I can understand what i am doing!

When I have a little moan, my husband always says:
"At least we are here to have a moan"
Secretly, it doesn't always make me feel better but it is a thought!

Hello to Heather, Dianne, Tinkerbell etc. lovely to hear from you. Answers: The Prill, is a cottage just outside Nesscliffe,Shrophire (my Father's home), I live equa-distance (7 miles) between Welshpool & Oswestry. Having trouble sending this and opening 'threads' will persevere until I crack it. does it cut one off if one talks too much? I have a lot to ask.. Generally and medically. Just found Lianne an think it was good fortune as I was in need of something. I want to thank you all for being so friendly. will sign off and start again later. If I am not going to be cut off! I have been reading threads, plus FAQs, I really am slow at this. My typing is dismal, I used to be a speed typist but with lefthand not functioning my words are all spelt with righthand letters only, needing plenty of corrections.
we have recently moved house, had an enormous garden, now have a very nice tidy, easily manageable one. Very friendly neighbours, but it was a terrible experience. My husband is ex-military so we moved every 2/3 years, had it off to a fine art. this was our 17th move. I am told stress is a no.no. well, there it was. With BT; Talk Talk; Severn Trent; British Gas etc playing their parts. I have decided this time I am staying put.... I might write a book about it. many incidents are now very funny, like the 7 calls from BT to make sure we would be home on the 22nd for installation, we half expected 7 BT engineers, but yes you have guessed it. No-one turned up and it took several calls to India to finally get anyone here!! Guess thats enough.
Bye for now. Heather (the Prill)

Saying goodnight from Wales, find I cannot sleep if I go before midnight. I occasionally take a sleeping pill to get a good 8 hours as I am told sleep is essential, although I get into bed and fall asleep IMMEDIATELY, wake up about 5 am and have to get up moreorless straight away, at least by5.30 am. this seems to suit me, I do now and again come to a grinding halt, my body says 'enough' and I have to sit down. These mornings it is lovely, I am outside by 6.30 am having taken my first medication, (of which I have learnt a good deal from Lianne's book, more on this later.)
We have had to build up the garden from scratch, as our house is a 2 up 2 down cottage, (with not a single tree, shrub or plant) converted into a 4 bed.house with ensuite, two reception rooms, large kitchen etc. Sadly I can only do a little, I can bend down but then find it hard to straighten as i have a vicious pain across my shoulders, old age or Parkies? I find this time up to 8.30 am the best part of the day, birds singing, sun shining and me with my MP3 player if I need it, which I don't very often the silence is great.
lovely to have had threads from so many more of you.
Have a lovely weekend. Hope Lewis Hamilton does good at Monaco! Back tomorrow.

looks like it's for the day
i get up at 6.30 am to see to Jim before i go to work , it's so quiet and peaceful then
come 9am it's as if the world wakes up
it sounds lovely where you are. Jim loved the garden, but now i have had it slabbed, and stoned, i have kept the green house and shed, and this summer managed to do the hanging baskets and lot's of pot's, have found it so relax in, and still been able to check on Jim
Jim hasn't got PD but a illness that mimics PD , but no medication works, sinemet, stops the shakes , It was Lianne's book that i have followed we call it the bible, and this forum, has been a blessing, i have learnt so much off all my new friends, and the support is better than winning the lottery

I am replying as I seem unable to follow a thread through. Seem to be many repeats of each letter, I guess I am pressing the wrong button, story of my life. Being serious that is not true, by and large it has been a pretty good one.
I guess I need a book of instructions. I will try the help page and see what happens. I did want to hear about Sinemet etc.
thanks for your best wishes, I enjoy reading your notes, really feel I am among friends. also enjoyed the jokes, (Viagra one and the river/fishing trip) as did Mike my husband!
Well with Lewis Hamilton winning the Grand Prix, Andrew Murray his Tennis match in Paris, and I have sorted out and printed etc the posters, tickets, for my Coffee Morning in June not a bad day's work.
Bye for now. I will return.... Heather (the prill)

Hi Heather: A friend in need etc. I am sure this forum will be a godsend, have learnt oodles about the different meds already. In our case I am the one with PD, don't know which is worse having or living with! We were living in Germany when it started, well strange thing happening to left side of body. diagnosed in 2002, seemed to stand still until a few months ago, now mobility is getting worse, and legs and feet giving trouble. Sounds as if you are very capable, managing to be nurse, gardener etc, and I see you live not too far away. we are 7 miles from Oswestry. I am Shropshire born and bred but family all come from around here, my husband is from Bristol, and has been a star. I have to insist on doing things for myself, while I still can, and hopefully will be able to for quite a while yet. think I have been leaving too long a gap between my tablets, I only take 3 mg Requip (ropinirole) 3 times a day and 2 x 62.5 Sinemet 4 times a day.
Seeing my Doctor tomorrow, Tuesday so will discuss things. Busy reading Lianne's book preparing myself.
Best wishes to you and Jim.

Hi Heather P [ hope you don't mind the [P] :)
I only work part time now, I retired 2years ago,
my boss was great, she suggested i retired so i could get my pension, and drop my hours to 20 over 5 days, so with paying less tax, and no pension , i only lost about £150 a month , less petrol and not buying dinners. we didn't miss the difference
then last year , Jim needed more care , so i have dropped them to 3 days 9am -1am,
after 12years i think i have become organised :D:D, don't always cope, but i just take a deep breath and think tomorrow will soon be hear, i have learnt what's not done is not done, and it will get done some time
Ilove your attitude , i always and still do insist, Jim done.does what he can, the old saying use it or lose it is what i quote to him,
I'm 4 miles from Wrexham your end, so not shore how far it is to Shrewsbury, but not far,i have a friend who is a sister , in Shrewsbury clinic/GP surgery
This site has given me so many friends, that understand , what's been going on in our lives
I can only speak as a carer, but have learnt so much, of what Jim has been going through, and also made me feel good, that not all my trial and errors have been wrong
Take care and look forward to chatting soon

Hi Heather
It's 1745 Wednesday. have just put everything away after lunch with 4 WI friends, well we all "worked" with The Shropshire Federation of WIs, i was the Federation Secretary.one of my lunch guests was my 2 i/c, we are now both retired, the other 2 being l executive Member and l Federation Treasurer. In other words i was paid, they did it for fun!
I retired in 1995 as my husband was posted to Germany and I could not let him go alone could I!
It is good that small groups of us meet up at least once a month for lunch, this lunch was unusual as we normally go to Restaurants, but I think they wanted to see our new house.
It all seemed to go very well, I enjoyed it anyway, and it gave my husband the chance to go off to Town on his own.
I do not really need 24 hr constant care, but he does not like leaving me for too long as I do tend to wobble about a bit, and I hate sitting still for too long, so he doesn't know what I might get up to....
Saw my Doctor yesterday who was a little concerned at my badly swollen feet and my low blood pressure, makes a change from high which appears to be everyone elses problem. He has given me tablets to reduce the swelling, and it is a good job that I know where all the local loos are! only problem is I cann't rush. oh well, just have to keep my 'fingers' crossed.
We go to Chester most weeks to collect the grandsons from school, usually a Friday, I will send you vibes as we pass Wrexham wishing you good fortune.
I am going now as Murray is playing tennis, he has a rather unfortunate manner, Mike my husband does not care for him, but is brilliant, especially when he is when playing well. You will gather I am a sports nut, we have sky Plus so I have a set in my Study along with my PC, keeps me out of mischief. and I can watch what I like. One advantage of being older and retired!
good luck to you and Jim. Will write more later.

when you you pass the slip road saying Plass Madoc , thats where i'm based
after the Indian and petrol station on your left, i take the next slip road off [plassy/johnstown ], and i'm about 5 min and home
sounds like you had a great day, and must be nice to have something to look forward to on a regular bases , and nice for Hubby to have some relaxing time, knowing you are safe
Sport= wash your mouth out young lady :D:), walking across the road to the shop is about as much as i can cope with :D
catch up soon

You don't have to worry Heather, you will gather I 'watch' not 'take part', I am a great armchair athlete, just do a little gentle stretching and bending plus pilates, i am giving it a go now, well the inention is there! I used to Rally, as I said, played a little tennis and was a member (for charity) of a local ladies football team, remember Silhouettes of Shrewsbury.
We have to 'get in correct lane' by The Indian Restaurant/Garage and I think this is a sign to me that we are nearly home when we travel back from Chester each week, will see if I can send you a message as we go by, I will ask you the time when next on line after next Friday, so you must have an open mind. No I don't think I am Uri Geler, just a joke.
Be in touch, have a good weekend all. Heather.P

Hi HeatherP

when you keep in right lane going home, i keep in left to get to work ,what time do you go to Chester
Usually going past Indian/Garage around 2.30 pm. We pick oldest grandson Aaron up from The Firs at 3.15 and then youngest Nathan from Creche at 3.45, then if fine it is off to the Park for football and swings etc before home for tea before parents arrive betwen 5.30 and 6.30. We usully leave about 7 unless we stay for a meal. From September they will both be going to The Firs so it will make it a little easier.
Had a lovely day popping around the sites, your picture was lovely, I do that on my PC. make all my cards for friends, I can personalise them etc but will have to learn to be as clever as you on this site. I think it is a wonderful way of keepin up to date and chatting without losing my voice which happens.

Nice to have made contact Bruce. My PC is giving me problems, bought very cheap and used continually, so owes me nothing. I would miss it though, especially now I have found The Forum. New laptop could be on the horizon!
Had a bad day yesterday, have felt quite well in myself, for weeks, although mobility as usual very iffy, and then yesterday everything shut down, or seemed to. I spent the day doing practically nothing, not like me, it may take a while but I like 'doing' as much as I can. Mike mowed the lawns and put down bags of compost, we have recently moved house and are starting the garden, a very small one after our 1 1/2 acres, and it is looking quite well. congratulations for your Anniversary. wishing you many more.

Hi Bruce, nice to hear from you. Being called Prill is lovely, my Father, name Bill, was known for most of his life as ''Prill', name of his house you may have seen,
.
Sorry to hear you have been feeling low, it is amazing how well you can feel one minute and then bang - down you go. Like you 'I make hay while the sun shines' (my quote), and then don't feel too bad when I have to sit and do nothing.
Yesterday i went swimming at The Orthopaedic, Oswestry (we go every Tuesday for an hour), our favourite day, and I have made several friends there, we always have a gossip about how we have been, and what we are doing. a bit like the forum! just off out to water the garden, it is very new and needs a great deal of help. Very little rain in this part of Wales the last few days. Stay as fit as you can. Prill.

Hi Bruce,
Just dropping by to see how you are. I'm sorry you are feeling a bit low. But it will pass. Just like you had that wonderful day last week, there are more to come to you in the future.
When your wife is home with you things will be better. Tony and I go out once in awhile, even if it is just for a short walk.
I do hope you will be able to go see her retire. If you do, be sure to enjoy it.
Talk to you soon. Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

Hi Bruce,
Just dropping by to see how you are.
Margie:)Hi,Margie!!! I am so glad to hear from you! I am determined to see my wife retire. I will be so much better when she is home with me. I told my daughter she and boyfriend and granddaughter had to find another place to live. My wife is having major surgery this June and I can take care of her and me but not them too. I don't think they liked it but to bad! Keep in touch---bruce

Nice to hear from you. I appreciate your words of encouragement! I know good days will continue to come. I enjoy the simplest of things now. I enjoy gardening and going out to eat when I feel like it. I enjoy my grandchildren in small doses. I really look forward to getting on this forum. My wife will have her last day at work Monday. I hope to go to see her retire. I really look forward to her being home with me. I hope to go out more. bruce
Hi Bruce, Prill here. I also enjoy the grandchildren, in fact off to see them both (6 and 3) to-day, will be passing Heather(seniors) house on the way, will think good thoughts. You must be looking forward to your wife being at home more, enjoy it and as you said, get out and about if you can, grab those good days, hope the sun shines for you and you make it to the retirement 'do'. Must dash, early shopping for the childrens tea, we always have a 'special Nanny and Gramps tea' when we collect them on Fridays.
Will look forward to your next letter. Good Luck. Heather(Prill)

Hi Heather. Bet you heard me shouting to you, altho my loud days are long gone. Yes had a great time, weather kind to us so park and football order of the day. Fell on my bottom the other day so now ache in another place, but the little ones make us forget don't they. Off out tonight with my WI friends, our Summer Outing, going to a local swanky eatery, my idea of an outing...
Next Tuesday we have a Coffee Morning at my house, should be interesting, cakes, raffle, plant and book stalls etc. do these things whilst we can I say. I have lots of willing helpers, just hope the weather is kind. Heather(p)

Hi Heather Senior,
Off to the Wirral on Sunday, birthday party for the eldest grandchild, reached the great old age of 7, so will be noisily passing your part of the world again. Feeling extremely chipper in myself, but sat down on my posterior rather heaviy 2 days ago and sitting and walking are rather painfuil so feeling a bit sorry for myself, at least pople do not keep telling me to go and sit down and have a rest, as they know it is painful to do so. Being spoilt rotten though which is rather nice. Sitting on a sponge cushion with an appropriate hole! It is 0130 hrs so maybe I should go to bed! Mike my husband has been there since 1130 hrs. I have been typing and printing Birthay Cards, plus Flyers and tickets for a Charity Coffee morning next week, well I refuse of make scones and bara brith so must do my bit. Off to have hair done at 0930 hrs, always makes one feel better. Good night all and have a good weekend. Heather (P)

Just read through all your replies, lovely to hear from you all. have just written a long screed so won't repeat my Coffee Morning success story, feeling rather pleased though. sorry about the pauses(joke) but
I keep getting distracted, we live on the main road through the village and they have the road up a few yards along, my window is very low, I sit here and look out over our front garden wall to the road, then across fields to The Breiddens, a Hill which has Rodney's Pillar on the top., He was the fellow who chopped down lots of his trees to use in the building of the ships to fight the Spanish. History over for the day. I have given so many clues as to where I live I am expecting cheeky Heather to turn up on my doorstep one day!
Mut away, it is 10.37, I had a very very long lie in, normally up at 5 this morning it was 9.30 am. Things to do - slowly - and places to go - slowly -. have a good one., Heather(P)

Have already typed a long screed somewhere else, under Coffee or chocolate or Party, cann't remember. You clever clogs will be able to find it if interested,
.Delighted to see Bruce is off on holiday, hope he has a good time, we all need to recharge our batteries.
Very windy today looking out of my window, blowing plants and bushes everywhere. I just love my 'West Coast of Ireland' stone, it is much too heavy to lift but looks great in the middle of the lawn next to the Indian pine.
It was great starting a garden from scratch, also the house was a clean canvas so I have had great fun. Just purchased a 'water feature' from Price Drop TV, hope it is okay, stainless steel, looks good. Must now tell Mike!!
Re my fall, had my rear-end XRayed last Thursday, will hear on Wed. what I have done, my bt is still very very painful but now a good friend has brought me a small rubber ring it is much more comfortable to sit.
Be in touch. Heather(P)

I feel cheated, if I had been on the sauce I would have had the fun, but pain and no fun!!! Still I have had one or two for medicinal purposes since. Sound as if I drink a lot which I don't but do enjoy the ones I do have. Lovely to chat to people all over the world. Will go onto a serious thread tomorrow. Have enjoyed all the chocolate though. Hi Heather
Don't know what kind of water feature it is, three stainless steel pillars, water runs down sides, haven't got it yet, will tell you more when it arrives. Should have cost £70 but got it cheaper from Price Drop. 635 on Sky, have some good deals as long as you are piccky. Good mixed with some not so good. Careful it also can become addictive.
Must away. Be back this afternoon. enjoy. Heather(P)

hi Heather senior
Received the water Feature this afternoon. took about 20 mins to assemble, just a large bucket-like container with a top, consisting of 3 different height stainless steel tubes, water comes out of top of each one, very effective, looks a bit like an organ. plus the pump and a very long cable. It is an 'Alan Titchmarsh' feature, costing over £100, I paid £28. We have put it into a large pot, with some plants around it, and pretty stones on the top, looks lovely, quite delighted with it.
Where is my info re pictures, seriously I would love to join the club.
Bye for now. Been out all day need a rest, had a couple of hours at home this afternoon.
Sadly a funeral tomorow, then a Parkinsons Group Meeting at Welshpool in the afternoon.
Good luck Heather (P)

Your description of your water feature sounds like the one I have. Have a look at my garden piccies. I think water features are a real asset to any garden and they come in such nice shapes and sizes. Great price you paid by the way. I paid £60 2 years ago from Focus DIY while I was visiting my Mother in Arbroath.
Over time algea will build up over the pump. Put some anti-algea liquid in the tub to keep it clear. Most garden centres sell this liquid.

Next Party 16 August, if you can take a large number of 3 to 7 year olds! You are welcome to join us but I have opted for the quieter 13 August one, there will be plenty of jelly and ice-cream, a chocolate Thomas the Tank Cake, plus a super trifle, and there will champagne, Pimms, nibbles and dips etc for us older children! You are all invited.
Just typed a long letter on some other site to Loretta, newly diagnosed, and when I clicked to post it, hey presto, it had disappeared. Never mind.
I have a little quote: "Yesterday is history; Tomorrow is a mystery; To-day is a gift - that is why it is called 'The Present' "
i guess really there is no way to make anyone feel better in this situation, we can sympathise but really it is up to the individual, I think I have a weird mind/personality. For the first few years I did as I was told, took the medication etc but know now that I was just floating along, refusing to accept at all that I had PDS, I think my sub-conscious was telling me that if I did not acknowledge it it would go away! I even told my PDS Nurse, who had my Neurologist come in and speak to me, he said 'It would be nice if we could just will things away, but sadly we cann't, you have PDS and we will do our best to make it as easy as we can for you to live as normally as possible' which I guess they are doing.
Hope Loretta gets some comfort from this Forum, which is great. If only I could understand where to go better, but I do find things eventually. will have a look around the site now, maybe in touch from somewhere else! Best wishes to all HeatherP

Hi Heather (P),
Yes, I can take a group of 3 to 7 year olds with delight. I have 8 grandchildren that range from 2 years old to 14 years old. I used to work with children that were mentally disabled...all ages...and I loved it. Children are special...they know how to have fun, laugh and get the best from life...so I'd love to come to your party in August...just remind us again...I'll bring some special eclairs that are just yummy. Am looking forward to your party event. :)

Marge - first acceptance, you can help blow out the candles. As you say children are great, for them I can make an effort no matter how I feel, even if they tell me I am the 'worst kicker in the world'! I can bowl a mean underarm at cricket though! i love the sound of your eclairs. More chocolate...

Susie Q. Hello, Tryphena here, just logged on to see if I have any mail and then thought I would try the Forum, and it appears it is you and me.
don'tknow how to chat on here, I have friends with whom I hold conversations, and find I can tell certain businesses off as they have 'chat lines'. The rest ????
You said you had managed some conversations but then kept falling asleep, it is a good job I have arms on my chair, also I have banged my head on the keyboard a few times, but worth it, just to use this infernal machine!!
I am up late as for the past few days I have been rushing round the County, visiting 3 friends in two hospitals, 30 miles apart, visiting the wives of these freinds in their homes, they need cheering up, and generally grandchild sitting, driving the 60 miles each way to where they are. good for me I guess.I love my little car. a Hyundi Acacia. It gets me around brilliantly. i never seem to have time for my PC or myself these days, still lucky I can do it I guess. spent the other evening/night watching the American election, fascinating, poor man, I hope he appreciates what he is taking on, what expectations both black and white people have of him not to mention other countries in the world. Poor Conservatives if they win the next Great Britain election, they will inherit a dreadful mess. With people again expecting miracles.
Well off to bed now it is nearly 1am, I need my beauty sleep.
Will read some more of your threads before I write again, I seem to have lost track of everyone.
Best wishes, Tryphena

Hi Tryphena,
You are the busy person I know. You always seem to be doing something. I hope our new president knows what he took on too. That is one job I would never want. I struggled with the chatting at first. But thanks to Sue's patience, i am getting pretty good at it. It is nice to just visit and get to know each other that way. It would be nice if you could join in, but i always enjoy listening to your prattle. You have a way with a story. I think you could make a grocery list into a good story. I am am going to spend the weekend wine tasting, shopping and hiking. It should be a great weekend.

Heather
Pauline has realised it is Ltd Edition(Ileenes) birthday on 19 March and in view of her problems we thought it would be a good idea to send her a birthday e mail if possible
