Hi,
Has anyone any experience of Apomomorphine? At present my father is on amentidine and madopar which is not working. The consultant wants to change him onto apomorphine.
Would love to hear of anyone who has experience of this drug.
Thanks

Hi Heather
Had visit from pd nurse and she has given us a date 24/06. to go to hospital for the morning to have test with apomorphine, she said she will inject dad every 15 mins with a different strenght until he can show improvement in his condition, but after so many attempts if no reaction she will stop. She has said the neuro doctor isn't holding much hope that it will work.

I'll let you know the outcome.

Hi Lynn,
I am pleased to hear that your father had got a date for the apomorphine. My father still hasn't got a date. It's probably taking longer because he has to stay in hospital. I will keep your father in my prayers.
God bless

Hi Lynn,
How did it go for your father, has he started on the apomorphine? My father has got his date for admission to hospital. He is being admitted on the 21 November 2008. I wouldn't like to be waiting on an appointment if it wasn't urgent.
Ah well, at least he has a date!
God bless

Hi Everyone
My father had the apomorphine on tuesday un fortunately it did,nt work, after three and a half hours, at times he seemed worse, it made him very sleepy. The pd nurse said she would consult the neuro doctor, check the results of the mri scan that he had 5 weeks ago,and ring me wednesday.
She imformed on wednesday dad has had several more mini strokes told to give him 75mg asprin aday to thin his blood, and to reduce the madopar by one tablet a week to take him off them,he will just be on the amanterdine 100mg 3 times a day. she aslo confirmed he has parkinson plus they don,t know which one yet,or may never know, but we will see the neuro doctor on the 11th august and hopefully we know more then.

Hi Lynn,
I am very sorry to hear that the apomorphine didn't work for your dad. Don't give up just yet as there are lots of other medications on the market. Some people seem to be very lucky in that they get the right medication first time around, but for others it can be a long hard road. My dad has already reacted very badly to two other medications (that's why he has to go into hospital to try the apomorphine) so I don't know how things will go for him.
I will keep you all in my prayers.
God bless
Geraldine
