I would like to know if anyone is having trouble when running late taking Stalevo? If I'm over an hour late my left leg starts to pull outward and my toes scrunch up real tight. This is very painful. I feel like someone is trying to pull my leg out of joint. I have to have my husband or I do it myself I use a massager. It is the only thing I can use to get out of pain till the medicine kicks in.

Hi Neekalu
I've just started Stalevo so at present I'm checking my dexterity etc. However I also take Selegeline and mirapexin so combined with these I'm probably going to take a while to come back to you.
I'm off on holiday so look out for me on 24th
I'll be the non shaking, relaxed, totally tanned babe like a young Spring Gazelle. (However the separate suitcase contains my liver !!)
speak soon

:
Lopressor (Metoprolol Tartrate) This is a drug mainly used for high blood pressure. However it is also used to block too much adrenaline in your body making the heart slow down.
I would suggest you contact your Gp / Doctor as they will have received a letter from your Neurologist and should explain it to you in more detail.
Everything is given for a reason so write out your questions ready to hand over to your Doctor. Ask them to verbally give you the answers and to confirm this in letter form for you to look at again when at home to help you understand more.
I hope this helps you Pauline
I'm away on holiday, so I'll catch up on my return
Keep safe

Hi,
How often do you take it? I have read on this forum about people having an alarm on their watch or mobile phone to remind them to take meds at appropriate time and this sounds like a really good idea.....
I have recently, about 6 months ago switched over from Sinemet Plus to Stalevo 100 every 3 hours. At first it seemed like "magic" the improvement was so great, but now they are not working quite so well and I need more, ie get really shakey inside etc.... as described by others on this site soo well, after about 2 hours and so don't really need reminder to take, as need next meds.
I can add to them with Madopar dispersible tabs, if needed to get me out of trouble, and am just about to up dosage to Stalevo 150 and see what happens.
From reading on this site, it seems that trial and error is the best way forward. Speaking to my Dr, he seems to have the view of living for today - who knows what may happen to us next week or next month - seems the correct view to me. Hope this helps,
best wishes

Hi Guys
Just a thought re Stalevo
Do me a favour when you get shaky have something to eat, because I've got a theory that my blood pressure drops, when I'm hungry. I've had an apple something with natural sugar and my shakes stop.
Another thing which I know for definite, having been part of trials alongside a medical scientific engineer ; who was designing a glove which measured the shakes in my hand before & after my medication, found that for an hour after taking my medicine my dexterity shakes etc got worse before getting better.
I'm on mirapexin ~& stalevo & selegaline, but wasn't taking stalevo at the time.
I hope this is helpful

Another thought. My Dr asks me to eat a packet of crisps when this happens and to have plenty of salt on meals, as well as drink lots of water, as blood pressure drops you need to raise it and so by eating crisps covered in salt this can help.
Hope it works
