Hi Sue, sometimes in the mornings I have double vision. I used to think double vision would be things side by side, but when I see things in that state, they are one on top of the other. Does any one else see things that way?

hi,

i have trouble with blurred vision, but i think that might be part of the effects of the meds.

Hi

When I get stiff in my neck, my eyes have blurred vision, speech is slow and hearing bad. It must be the med.
Thanks for sharing.:)

Hi Sonja, my eyes water also. There does not seem to be a particular pattern but when it happens they do sting especially my right eye.

Hi Sue. My husband has PD and had a lot of double vision. Both side by side, up and down and I guess you say diaganonal. Found an eye doctor that deals with PD eye problems and she worked with him for months with different prisms until she got it so he hardly has any double vision and when he does, it is for like a few seconds and it is always side by side now . The prisims seem to have really helped that part of his vision.

Hi I also have trouble with my eyes they water a lot especliy [spelling} if I have been looking at tV or the computee. The eye Dr. said that was the cause of the eyes watering I didnt even think of PD.

Having eye problems right now, have seen opticians who tell me my eyes are perfectly healthy, then why are they either blurred, itchy, aching etc. ? they also insist 'Parkinsons' does not affect vision... I don't agree, although it could be the medication it is still Parkie.
I use eye-wash twice a day, plus eye drops as they feel so raspy.
I take Sinemet and Requip (ropinirole), could it be these?
I shall read on with interest. Have a good day. Heather(Prill)

hi heather (prill)
i totally agree with you parkinsons does affect the eyes as this site is proving so many are having problems doctors dont know everything they dont suffer from pd so dont live with it day to day i think we are the experts. take care susan.

Hello ladies & Gents having to wear glasses myself I found that since being diagnosed with Parker's my eye sight deteriorated by 10% within the 1st year or 2.

Upon asking my Neurologist he confirmed that parkers has this effect, however like Parkers itself we are all different so what has happened to me may not necessarily occur to you.

The watering of eye's is caused by a combination of our age & medication.
The best thing to get is False tears, to use in the day time and a eye lubricant with oil based for putting in prior to sleep. The oil based lubricant assist's your eye's from getting sore, by REM rapid eye movement.
Without the oil your eye's move whilst asleep causing the eye to rub against the interior of your eye lid, causing a friction which induces tears, in order to protect your eyes from receiving Friction type burn's.

I hope this assists you when you visit your doctor , you can now say you have dry eye's, excluding infection out of the equation / hay fever.

One of the first things I noticed
two years ago was that my eyes would often become out of focus. About the same time one or both of my legs would feel numb. When my right hand began to shake as well I eventually went to the doctor. The time when I knew it was really a grim outlook was when my doctor shook my hand and wished me good luck before diagnosing pd. I now take ropinerol and siminet. Some days and times are not too bad some days are awful occasionally a good day and I can forget anything is wrong with me but the point I am trying to make is that it was definately my eyes going out of focus which alerted me to fact that something was horribly wrong!!!!

Hi Sue, Margie here! My husband has trouble with his eyes tearing and producing white like substance since his diagnosis of PD. Also sometimes eyes produce a mucus like film that irritates him. Washing the eye with a product called Ocu-/soft (come in individual packettes) and then rinsing with warm water helps him a lot. It is an over the counter product.

Hi Susie

Yes I have a lot of eye irritation, weepiness and blurred vision. It is sometimes quite hard to go out as people think I'm crying but its just the old eyes watering up. Is it the medication, I've just changed from Requip to Mirapexin.

I do have my eyes tested regularly and my sight is deteriorating. Is this a common sympton of PD?

Hi Pauline

The trouble that i have with my eyes is not watering .this may sound silly but i will say it anyway .When my medication starts to not work ,the first thing i notice is that my eyes do not scan i seem only to be able to look straight ahead.not sideways i explained this to my doctor and he said that because parkinson's is a muscle thing the eye muscles are not working like everything else they slow down and thats is why i feel like this .this is the first sign to me that i need my medication .funny how we all have so many different things happening to us .

I tend to stare stright a head when my medication stops working. I also have problems if whatever I am looking at gets to close. It hurts my eyes and I can't break my focus.
