I am 55 years old. I have been diagnoised for 9 years, but we all agree I have had pd longer. I am aretired school teacher and do everything for extra money person. I worked as hard as I could from the time I was 18. I am adjusting to having to ask someone to help me. I never asked for help in my life. I have found \that too much pride can get in the way of being active and productive. I went back to teaching part time this past Aug. I worked with adults returning to school to get their high school diploma. I loved it until it became a chore this Spring. I have had to stop this job. I do still garden . I love my roses and growing flowers. I am also writing a novel. I have 3 children 6 grandchildren and my beloved wife of 33 years the 17th of this month. Thanks for listening!bruce

Hi Bruce,
I don't have pd, but I am carer for my father. Just like you before pd he was very active and very independent. He also has a problem with his pride. As I keep saying to him - the more help he takes the more independence he will have. I know it's not easy. Every day I thank God that I am the carer and not the one being cared for. Nice speaking to you
God bless.

Hi Bruce,

My husband Tony is just learning to ask for help. He also finds it very difficult because he was so capable and independent before PD. Keep on hanging in there with the help your wife Elaine. Tony and I are too. PD will not win!

About your novel...when it is done you will have to share with your family here on the Forum. Maybe, if you plan to publish it, we could make it a "best seller".

I'll wish you and your wife a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY today, as I might not think of it on the proper day. Tony and I are having our 46th anniversay on May 26th.

Hope you are having a good day.

Margie :)

Hi Bruce,

Great therapy is what we need. Who knows, you might go on to writing a second novel, etc. You've found your second vocation. Go to it!

Hope you are having a good day.

Margie :)
