My therepy

At Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire there is a miniature railway with 3/4 mile of track through a wooded area. I help out on the platform assisting people on and off the carriages. The engines are 90% steam driven. I love meeting the people who go on the rides and it keeps me active. There is a bench for me to sit on while waiting for the next train to arrive. All the member of Echills Wood Railway - that's what it is called - know I have PD and make allowances for me wilting a bit after a couple of hours but do not make any fuss which is great. I have problems standing for any length of time and cannot walk any distance without Dystonia "attacking" my right foot. The point I am trying to make, somewhat longwindedly, is I am getting out and about, keeping active and meeting new people and enjoying my life as much as possible.
When I am not at the railway I enjoy gardening and computing. I do all of above with my wife who is as enthusiatic as me.
Initially I was dubious about getting involved fearing that I may let people down. By explaining to the railway group of my PD in simple terms it was excepted and we just all get on with it. :):):)

it is great that you are meeting new people and getting out and about, the best therapy. I feel the same as you keep ,busy and active keeps your mind off yourself.

Positive mind, active body.
Its strange but after all the years of going to the gym, ive got the body I always aspired to have , a 6 pack I didn't buy from a supermarket, bycept muscles that give Arnie Schwartzanigger a run for his money and I can run like Lynford Christie.
I can still react to danger, I can still ride a bike and drive but can't always walk from A TO B .
Iv'e found a flair for flower arranging and can sell snow to the eskimo's. I'd win a Gold medal for England for talking
But best of all I'm honest and loyal.
Having Parkers is not too bad after all !!!!!!
Oh & I laugh so much I need oxygen

It is so nice to have such good friend , who don't fuss but you no they are there if you need them, how often do you do your lovely hobby
Jim loved Gardening, never bought veggies or flowers,I just just potter ,have slabbed and stoned it all, have kept his green house and just potter in it
my life is my family and computer, i love to learn new things
Approx 3 years ago i did a diploma of nursing , thanks to my computer, as i have dyslexia, so find it much easier to explane my self with pictures

Hi Drew,

I'm glad you are able to work at a job that you enjoy and have people who care. Being upbeat as you are will definitely help with the PD. Gardening is wonderful. I hope what you plant this season will bloom and grow for you and Elaine to enjoy to the fullest.

Computers are great. So glad to have mine back after it broke down. My son was able to correct the problems.

I didn't know Arnie was black? Loved the reply Gazelle. Keep the b*ggers off your back until you get your 30 years in. I've got lots of mates in your mob. It used to be a good firm to work for as did British Gas who I worked for.
Your right about "Parkers". Not like motor neuron or terminal cancer.

Elaine and I don't do grass so we started 3 years ago on the garden and 3 ton of Cotswold stone later was have a bril garden with wavy flower borders i.e. no straight lines. Two sets of table/chairs and patio heaters. 2 barbies and loads of lights - some 240v and some solar where we spend all our time in the Summer apart from at the railway. No complaints about life this time of year. Pity about the winter - thinking of spending some months in Malta next winter when Elaine retires. Be well and laugh enough to borrow Gazelle's exygen, x

Cannot show pictures of our pride and joy garden as a virus chewed the software on all my system files and had to format the hard drive and lost all my photos of the garden. :mad:.

I don't do grass,slabs small stone pot's and fence's I have a honeysuckle i'm proud of it was a cutting i had 20 years ago off my dad,i took a picture to day before it flowers, then will do one when it's flowered, last summer i had the hedges cut down to manageable hight and moved a big plastic storage bin we brought back from the caravan , and behind it was a plant /tree
so i cleared it out tied it up etc and it's flowered so have taken a pick i do get lot's of God plant's [weeds] but he looks after them :D will post them all over the next few days

Malta sounds good, we went for 10 days many years ago, that's where i bought my first bobbins for bobbin lace from

hi drew, its nice to hear that you enjoy life even with pd i still work at present and all the girls i work know i have pd, iam a cummunity healthcare assistant and am part of the district nursing team i am still able to take bloods and do dressings things like that all with help co-beneldopa and like you enjoy my garden life is,nt so bad at present even with pd oh and i have a wonderfil husband which does help.
