I was diagnosed with PD in January 1990.I live alone . I am considered to be in good shape . Up until 3 years ago I played golf four times a week. I see an acuopuncturist once a week. I have continuous numbness in both legs and it is limiting my ability to walk for any length of time. I am under the care of the movements disorder clinic in Toront Western Hospital. I see Dr Tony Lang every six months. I was very fortunate in discovering Liana last fall. Her book "everything you should know about Parkinsons" is a treasure house of information. If anyone can help me with My numb legs I would appreciate it

Hi again, as mentioned I live across the Ottawa River on the Quebec side... Do you know this area!!!! We talked b/4 on the new member thread. I am the one that broke my wrist, moved my father & take care of my mother.
I have been diagnosed with PD 17 yrs ago at the age of 40..but had the signs 2 yrs prior. As everyone else, thinking I was too young for that, I denied it for 5 yrs but joined 2 groups of people meeting every month to keep our moral up... We discussed over meds, relationship with family, acceptance of this awful & dreadful disease and tried to keep our fears away..
At that time, I was working 40 - 60 hrs /wk as a Call Center Mgr and 60 employees counting on me, I never had a moment
to think negatively.. I couldn't let down my employees, my family, my friends. It has been extremely difficult for some years but having the best neurologist in the Ottawa region,he gave me over the yrs different combination of meds that kept my tremors hidden and feeling pretty good and steady for a while.. For the 1st 10 yrs or so, my pride kept me from letting my fellow workers , employers and friends to know that I had PD. I was afraid to loose my job but I am proud to say that I have never missed one day of work in 19 yrs and have always kept positive.
I am now on Sinemet, Mirapex, Amantadine and Comtan...The last one is a new one that I started 2 mos ago in replacement of the one that made me hallucinate, loose balance, speech problem and ended up falling and break my wrist. It's seems that they are settling down. It usually takes 6 mos to prove that there working out. Needs to stay positive!!! This disease
is not going to get me down.
Well, I never spoke so much about myself. Hope that my english is not too bad for a frenchie!!! Ha! Ha!
Have a good night!
